Registering and transferring vanity plate while out of state

So, I’m a day 1 R2 reservation holder and I will be getting the LE as soon as they let me order. I am currently in NM working on a project and will be here until Oct. I’m curious if anyone has experience with registering a new vehicle in CA while temporarily working in another state. I live in El Segundo, but I also want to try and pick up the R2 in Phoenix so I don’t have to drive as far back.
I also have a custom vanity plate I want to transfer current vehicle (which I will be giving to my parents who live in NM), to my new R2.
Are there any viable options for this process?

Rivian did the online paperwork to register and transfer my existing West Virginia plate to my new Quad during the buying process. I got to choose where to pick up my new Quad out of state.
