That's likely the max for the dual motor. Tri motor is probably the only way to get more power.
And from what I've seen so far the Tri motor won't be available till 2027. Any chance they would release the Tri motor during the fall R2 release with the Lidar launch?

I haven't seen it yet, but have any of the reviews mentioned anything about ventilated front seats?
Mike Kantorski had a live chat yesterday. One of his guests stated the front seats were ventilated.

So if the 659 HP R2 we are seeing in these release videos is actually the "Launch" version for the spring...will this have a software unlock option down the road to pay for greater HP? Can we unlock more HP? Or is 659 HP what we are stuck with moving forward?
High probability these press cars were the performance upgrade, that's plenty powerful but the Tri is coming at some point too. Will be interesting to see what the standard dual motor power is when all of the specs are released on March 12 and if the launch edition is going to get the performance upgrade, it will definitely be dual motor. The P upgrade is simply a software unlock so would be a nice bonus for the early adopters since no gen 3 compute.

Watched several of the review videos, but haven’t been able to tell interior dimensions. I’m on the taller side and fit great in r1t, would be concerned about feeling cramped in r2.

No need to feel that way. Doug is 6'5" and said he fits great. The R2 actually has more rear legroom than either of the R1s.

It's possible, but we simply don't know at this point.

They seem to be right on track with what they outlined for the R2 release. I don't know why people keep thinking delays are coming and we won't see more models until 2027. The Launch Edition can only be Launch for so long. Where did you "see" a tri won't be available until 2027?

Fall for the R2 Tri makes sense to coincide with the lidar update. I think that makes a bit more sense as a guess to probably introduce both at the same time. Q4 the latest, I'd imagine.

I've read so many different posts and articles; so I don't remember exactly where I saw a mention towards the trimotor R2 getting pushed into 2027. However, I don't believe it's crazy to think the trimotor might be pushed into 2027.

In 2024 when Rivian released it's GEN 2 RIS it did so in June of that year. The rollout of the Trimotor GEN2 R1S didn't arrive until 3-4 months later in September, as I remember it.

So what if there are some issues that arise from the "launch" version that Rivian has to address during the summer...maybe pushing timelines further down the road? Or other unforeseen considerations?

Obviously, if it were up to me the "Launch" version here in the spring would be the trimotor instead of the dual motor we were shown yesterday. I don't want to wait till 2027. In a perfect world it's ready in October with the LIDAR launch.

I have a first year R1T and R1S and 3 years of no issues. Seems Rivian is opposite with all the Gen 2 issues lol.
I’m in the same boat, 4 years with my R1T and 2.5 with the R1S. Both have been nearly flawless.
When they did my complimentary tonneau upgrade, I had a Gen 2 loaner, and honestly, I preferred my early-VIN Bosch Quad LE over the Gen 2.

DeMuro says we won't get pricing or more details until March :(
Without pricing details, I find these reviews much less useful than they could have been.
