What is the width of the crossbars? Iām debating on keeping my CVT Pioneer or replacing that with a hardshell RTT that has a slightly smaller footprint.I removed a couple of the cross bars in the front so the main sunroof wouldnāt be quite as obstructed but donāt have any pics of them.
Cold I bug you for a measurement? Iām looking for the distance from the back of the rack to the rear of the fairing. Looking for loadale space.Yes it comes with more loctite than you need. Iām glad I have a power ratchet that makes it much faster than hand turning.
The key to installing this is keep all bolts finger tight until everything is installed on the car. Then tighten up once everything you want installed is on. I also have 4 extra cross bars as I didnāt want to put too many on and I can always add them later.
I bought the front fairing wind seal extra but one came with my parts so I wouldnāt buy it extra.
I havenāt taken it out on the highway yet but Iām guessing the wind noise will be negligible as it was on my 4Runner but time will tell. Either way it is useful for me and not just about aesthetics especially with the glass roof

Exactly. Thanks!Just to confirm you want to total length of the rack from the rear crossbar to the beginning of the fairing?
It adds just under 3 1/2 inches to the height of your S at the middle crossbar mounting point. This is also the peak of the roof on your R1SHello @Nano and @Polar
I recently found your post and read through the informative thread.
Can either of you kindly share how tall the rack is? I'm curious the height from the top of the Rivian roof to the top of the rack? This will help me ensure my vehicle can still fit in my garage before purchasing.
Thank you
This is great info. Thank you for sharing the info.It adds just under 3 1/2 inches to the height of your S at the middle crossbar mounting point. This is also the peak of the roof on your R1S
It is lower than the OEM crossbars -
We have a Vevor hoist in the garage and lift everything off all together. Rooftop tent and the Rivian crossbars all come off in one piece. Good investment for versatility and seasonal configurationsTaking on and off would be a royal pain! It is now a permanent part of the Rivian. I canāt imagine it would affect range that much and I use my roof rack pretty often hauling all kinds of things.
