There's no fighting the system. This may be one of the misconceptions you have about Openpilot's cooperative steering and torque blending. With torque blending when you apply torque to the steering wheel, openpilot reduces the torque it is sending, essentially blending the two torque inputs for a smooth experience. It is actually quite pleasant and intuitive.

For those that have no experience with a comma and Openpilot, the Lane Keep Assist feature in your Rivian is more forceful and annoying than Openpilot. Before I got my comma, I always had Lane Keep Assist turned off.

It's a good, flawed system. I recommend it to anyone who was hoping for something like it, and is willing to put up with the install, and who's willing to await software updates.

Yeah, it's definitely a work in progress. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who just wants an easy plug and play system that isn't wiling to do at least a little tinkering. The install alone is a big hurdle for most people.

My biggest issues so far are:
1. Lack of steering torque. Even light, simple curves seem to be an issue. I know it takes an hour or so of driving to fully calibrate the torque, but this is annoying.
2. This thing HUGS the lane lines, and often drifts over them. Does this calibrate with my CONSTANT corrections?

I have been told that it does constant calibrations so it may get better over time. Also, when it's time to change your tires that's a good opportunity to increase you torque by 30% or more.

1. Do you have tires with low torque? As discussed, there is no quick fix for this other than better tires, which may not be an option for you.
2. I do not have this problem and Sunnypilot is way better at lane centering than Driver+. If I were you I'd initiate a recalibration and/or try a different driving model, both of which are in the comma settings menu.

Which branch are you running? xnor-tech/sunny-mads-buttons-ui is the preferred version without the add-on harness. If you have the add-on harness it's xnor-tech/sunny-mads-buttons. If you're on sunnypilot/mads-tesla-prebuilt or default open pilot you are utilizing Rivian's TACC, which can give you some of the problems you are having.

I would recalibrate to start as you are on the appropriate software and default model. I've only ever used the default model, but others have liked WD40.

I just found your video on SunnyPilot. Tapping up on the stalk turns off Rivian ACC and keeps SP enabled with MADS, but how do you ultimately disengage SP? Is the brake the only mechanism?

That could be where my hesitation is coming from. If the system doesn't fight against you that would be quite the feat, as every ADAS system I've used that works on a similar principle does fight you to a point. In my wife's BMW for example, it will fight you a great deal on the lane keep. I will reserve further judgment until the opportunity to test it arises.

Currently that's the only mechanism, but we have found the signal for the driver stalk so we'll hopefully have a different method for this soon, like double tapping on the stalk, etc.

That could be where my hesitation is coming from. There is no fighting; you can always and easily override it. One of the things I love about it and makes it so much more intuitive than Tesla or Rivian. Once you try it, it is hard to go back. Same about MADS.

I've run Comma far more than I have FSD, AP or D+ in the last few months since I own it. Yes, there are some quirks, but overall, it is so much more usable and integrates better with how I drive and want to use it.

I love being able to avoid a pothole and not have it disengage.
