Just an update. I dropped off my R1T at Crash Champions near Nashville. My estimator was not available today, hopefully I will get an estimate before Thanksgiving. I wandered around the lot and saw a R1T twin in the back. It looked like it will need a bumper as well. I also got my NACS adapter email today. it figures it would come when I didn't have my truck.

I hear you about your NACS adapter. My Connect+ free trial started the day I dropped mine at the shop and ended before I got it back.

Hello! Did you get an estimate for the damage? I hit a deer on New Years Eve, similar damage to yours but the deer sent the rest of his body into the passenger doors as well and blew the passenger curtain/seat airbags.

Yours might be totaled with the airbags deployed.

Ouch, sorry to hear that. Hope all the humans are ok.

Last estimate I got was $6208. The repair shop said there were a couple of extra items to be added, so i assume the price will go up a bit more.

On an another note. I took the truck for repair on Nov 25th and the repair is not complete yet. Estimated completion/pick up is Jan 8th. It was the 3rd, but they found there parts missed that are needed.

A end of ordeal post. I dropped the truck off 11/25 initial estimate $3062.88 (local State Farm approved shop). Took to Rivian approved location and the final is Right at $8,000. Lesson learned, don’t take to an approved shop first, I think that caused more probelms than it helped. Crash Champions in Antioch did great. My estimator was Leigh and she fought to get everything she could from Insurance.

To clarify, did you mean 'Don't take to a non-rivian approved shop first? or to do that?" What kinds of problems do you think it caused?

Interesting. Is it complete? Are you happy with the final result?

Progressive is saying mine is $15k with almost the same front damage plus fender, 2 doors, and seat/headliner airbags. They’re going to haul mine to Jacksonville and the shop there said they would do a supplemental. I guess based on your math, mine should be roughly 3x progressives’ estimate? So $45k? lol

Sorry, should have been more precise. Don’t take to a non-Rivian approved. I think it made the job of the approved shop harder getting the amount to repair.

It is complete and I am happy. The facility provides a life time warranty on the repairs, so I guess if something falls off they put on or the paint fades, I can take it back.

I hope it is not $45k, but with the way things run it might be.

Just got mine back from its second collision center visit in 6 months. First went from $12k initially to $26k and the second from $1.5k to $7k. We had an Explorer in for work a few years ago and it went from $1.2 to almost $8k. Hard to estimate with all the Hi-Tech equipment on cars now until disassembly is done.

BTW my local body shop couldn't get parts and told me to take it to a certified shop.

With the tech in new cars they just don’t know what is not working until they take it apart.

So guess what? We had to tow our rivian to Jacksonville the closest approved shop (180 miles away). The repair shop estimated it at just under $40k (vs $15k initial progressive estimate) without looking at batteries or even starting it up. Progressive has finally contacted us and said they would likely total ours out, but it’s not finalized and have not established a settlement amount yet. Progressive has been thorough and approachable. It was a 2024 r1t quad with 9229 miles, limestone, black 22’s, and power tonneau cover. Ugh.

Anyone have any idea what we should be looking for on payout? We paid $86k but were grandfathered in at the lower early price. Comps are all over the place.

You were close on your estimate. That is really rough for a new car to be totaled by a deer strike. Hopefully the pay out will be at least what you paid, if not replacement cost.

Good luck!

Not sure if this is the right area, but I am sure it will get moved if wrong.

i was driving home last night in Middle TN around 5:30 CT. I just crossed I-24 and was near Arnold Air Base. A deer crossed most of the road, but I clipped it with the right front bumper of the truck. No air bag deployment, truck still drivable. Not sure of the repair cost yet, collision center is closed. Including pictures and 2 incident videos from the truck.

Thoughts on repair cost? Maybe not totaled since the air bags didn’t deploy ?.

These repair costs and “totaling” for damage conventional autos sustain has me antsy to buy! I’m still shopping and on the fence…
