So when I went in to the Chicago Rivian dealership and ordered my R1T Tri-Max they showed me a map with new service centers coming in 2025 for Raleigh-Durham and Duncan/Spartanburg SC , which will be great for me as I live in Asheville so 1 hour drive to South Carolina SC. Then people on the forum said no it was coming to Charlotte, but I just saw a map from Rivian in their October newsletter that indeed showed Duncan, SC and Raleigh-Durham, with nothing in Charlotte, so this seems to be confirmed.

Raleigh temp site opens Dec 6th in Knightdale. Permanent site opens in Garner in 2025. Land bought, have to build it.

Charlotte is built and confirmed…but not for customer facing yet…you can actually pick up vehicles from there currently and they dispatch mobile for Western NC from there.

Not sure if Charlotte is a done deal it wouldn’t be on their latest service center map that was published today? I hope they do all 3 but website seems to only indicate Raleigh-Durham and Duncan/Spartanburg.

I understand….but….Charlotte IS operational right know for Non-Customer facing service. That’s why it’s not on the map.

While scheduling a service appt today, the tech on the line offered Charlotte or Richmond…then said since it was driveable…Richmond only for now.

Non-customer facing means mobile can direct vehicles to that center that are considered immobile…nothing else currently.

New updates….

Raleigh Service Center has been pushed back to January-ish due to crews working on the Knightdale center being pulled to work on other projects in Western NC from the floods. It was also eluded that maybe the Knightdale site will in fact the permanent site…we will see.

Discussions on this thread about Charlotte prompted me to confirm. It was CONFIRMED Charlotte is open for non-customer facing work and mobile hub. Charlotte will have a customer facing site sometime in 2025 (probably 2nd have of the year)

Duncan SC is also still in buildout.

I will keep this thread updated on any new developments that I come across.

Oh, this is good news for me. We bought lake front property on Keowee a few years ago, and plan on retiring there in ~ 2 years. So, nice to know a service center will be fully operational when we make the move.

I have heard that Charlotte location was either in Indian Land, SC (just over border from Ballantyne area of Charlotte) or Monroe, NC. Does your source for the "confirmation" of a CLT site have conclusive evidence of which it is, or if it's somewhere else within CLT area. I'm hoping it's on the south side of CLT vs up near Lake Norman, but anything's better than having to go to ATL for service.

I’m very happy to see this happening (I live in Emerald Isle NC and have used the Richmond SC a few times). But I wonder how they are getting around the NC dealership protection laws? Frankly I was surprised that Rivian could sell in NC when I bought my R1T in 2022, and really didn’t believe it would happen until it came to my house on a flatbed ?. I have not waded thru pages of legalese in the laws covering this. But summaries I’ve seen seem to specifically disallow service centers unless operated as a franchise.

It'd be strange to spend this much effort on a temporary site. $1.8m and 30k sqft building. Seems reasonable for a permanent site. https://wakecountync-energovpub.tyl...#/permit/aa1d623d-40dd-4f20-9162-3b0602e0b08d

Have you heard any recent rumblings about when the Duncan SC may open? Are they still on track for the end of the year? Thanks!
Nothing new on Duncan that I have heard.

Raleigh is Q1 2025.

Duncan SC is showing as open on Rivian.com now. Mobile service tech confirmed that service appointments were being made for 2025. No offense, but good-bye to Atlanta. I won’t miss that 3-hour slog down and back.
