Driver Display shows only Lead Car (Gen 2)

I've noticed an occasional bug on my Gen 2 where the driver display does not show all the vehicles around. It only shows the lead vehicle and lane markings.

It seems kind of random when it works or doesn't work. If it isn't working it often will begin working after the vehicle has been asleep for a while

There's no functionality impact, Highway Assist, blind spot monitoring, and even automatic lane changes work just fine. It's just the visuals that are sometimes not working

And because I can already feel the comments coming on, no I was not driving 80 in a 60. The speed limit was incorrect on the display

I don’t think I’ve ever seen images of cars behind me. In fact I think it is annoying that the vehicle does not display vehicles in your blind spot WHERE YOU REALLY NEED IT. Instead it only shows vehicles ahead which my own eyes can see. I tag this “feature” as a gimmick.

For gen 2 they added the ability to show vehicles in all directions. When mine was working properly, this is how it looked:

Wonder if they can doo a Gen 1 mod? I know at least one sensor detects vehicles and would be okay with ANY image representation, even if it is not accurate as to car/truck/van/motorcycle.

I probably wouldn't count on it, unfortunately.. They made a complete overhaul of the driver assistance system for Gen 2

I saw the 80 in a 60 and thought "what a completely normal freeway speed, well done". You don't want to see what the speedo usually looks like in my M car.

Hahaha good catch - the Rivian actually misread the sign. In Utah our interstate speed limit is 70-80 depending on where you are

This is how my vehicle used to work as well, then after about 3 weeks of ownership it went to the single vehicle ahead only. Shortly thereafter I received an indication to clear front radars, radar sensors blocked. Made an appointment and it's been almost 2 weeks. Engineering came down to my service center to investigate and troubleshoot after SC had to escalate because replacing hardware didn't fix. Supposed to hear something soon as three engineers came down today.

Interesting, please keep me posted on what happens next, so far I haven't had any errors or malfunctions. Was your highway assist working properly between when the visualization quit working, and when you got the error message?

Yeah highway assist always did seem to work, but honestly I only had opportunity to try it about twice. I couldn't get auto lane change to work, but only tried that once and now I'm not sure if it was the radar issue or not. I did notice though all the cars went missing in the visual though, only the front one would be seen.

Well fingers crossed they can get it figured out for you quickly! Sounds like it's probably a software issue if they replace hardware and it's still doing the same thing.

@krb1183 Any update on your vehicle? Mine is about to go in for service on Thursday. Still no change on my end, visuals are not working properly, but Highway assist and lane change on demand are still working

Hey! My vehicle is ready as of Saturday for pickup but we were out of town. Since I'm 2 hours away trying to find a good time to go get it this week before the SC closing time. May have to wait until Saturday.
It was a software issue is all I heard.

Well good news it's all ready for you to pick up! Glad they were able to figure out the software issue. Hoping mine is also a software fix. Hopefully they can pull from whatever solution solved yours

@mpshizzle so picked up my vehicle today and drove it the two hours back from the service center. My drivers display still only shows the one lead vehicle in front of me, but yes drivers assist appears to still work fine. i believe this is because they weren't able to fully rectify the issue. From my service report: "this is a rare firmware issue. It has been mitigated for now, but the more permanent solution will be released in a future update".

I'm going to call in to Rivian service just to confirm that my assumption that all the vehicle visibility from the drivers display will come back in a future update. (I'm almost assuming they did a software patch to just remove the warning/indication, but it was going to take longer to do a larger software fix to the radars).

How is your vehicle working, still just the single vehicle ahead of you as well?
