1 week later, the tires are nicely broken in. The ride is on cloud like my previous Lexus LX back in the 90s. Super smooth, quiet, supple, good steering feedback and grippy. You cannot beat Michelins. Pirellis are garbage compare to this.

I just got the Michelin Defender LTX MS/2 in 22" (XL/115 load), and immediately noticed an improvement in ride comfort.

I highly recommend these tires. I'm very particular about tires but it truly transform the cars. Be patient and get them broken in few hundred miles and you will smile.

What is the efficiency so far?

So far mostly above 2.2 MI/kwh. Pretty efficient rolling tires compared to the Pirellis. My average is lower because I've not done 500 miles break in but now at 200 miles after mounting them on. I still got 100 miles left on the battery. Will need more time to drive it. Been driving my Audi RS7 on the side.

Is it uniformly so that @Discount Tire will match Costco's no installation charge if we buy these from discount tire? I was going to order a set on line (as they are not in stock at my store) at the @Discount Tire web site, but installation costs are automatically added. With it being Sunday, I can't call the local store either - so I ask the community to share your experience. Was anyone told "no" on matching the Costco no charge installation policy? @Discount Tire - What would you suggest on this? Also, are you running any Labor Day sales (or have any coupons) on these? The price I see on DT's site is the full $364.00 price.

Yesterday I bought a set of Michelin 275/55/21 tires from discount tire in Salt Lake City. Total cost was $1487.
My original 21 inch Pirellis still have 6 to 7 mm of tread after 15,000 miles so I did not want to mount the new tires until I wear the pirellis out. I expect I will need the tires at about 20K miles so maybe I get them mounted next spring after this winter driving on my X-Ice tires that I have mounted on a separate set of 20 inch wheels. I figured Michelin may not produce the tire in a year or two so I wanted a set now. Based on the milage I have gotten out of the Pirellis I should be able to get 4 more years of use out of my 21 inch wheels and I can put off making the 20 inch wheel purchase for several more years. I was resigned to buying a new set of 20 inch wheels and was about to do that until I saw the Michelin 21s were available. I'm mostly concerned with the range on the new Defenders. My average range on the pirellis has been 2.58 mi/kWh in the last 4,800 miles and last winter I got 2.45 mi/kWh on the X-Ice tires. If I'm anywhere in that range with the Defenders I will be happy.

You got less than 2.2 for your pirelli ?

Switched rims and tires - not noticing a difference between stock 21" pirelli and 275/60r20 Michelin ms/2s on efficiency

Update: I called my local @Discount Tire store (and via online chat as well) and Discount Tire DOES NOT match the Costco's "free installation" policy at DT, just the price of the tires. Discount Tire charges $96. Also, Costco is currently offering $60 off a set of any Michelin tires, but Discount Tire won't match that as the Costco online web tool has yet to show the new size. So, it looks like DT lost this sale. Would like this forum's DT sponsor rep to confirm, but so far no response (due to the weekend, I'm sure).

Update #2 and PSA:

I went to Costco and asked them to check their access/inventory on these tires, as their web portal has yet to show them. Low and behold, *BOOM* - 1) In stock, 2) $60 discount, 3) free installation, 4) Lower "fees" and 5) $1532.91 out the door, installed!!! ?

For comparison, I attached photos of the Costco price paid vs the best @Discount Tire could offer (as posted earlier and above). That's nearly $500 less than DT, folks! ?
