The 22" wheels look great!

It appears that vampire drain has finally been solved on the R1. It's been an issue on my R1T since new.

Congrats on the new ride!

Consider parking centered up with Tesla stations. It lets the cars on either side also reach the next station. Ignore the lines.

Glad it helped. I had been waiting to post this. I just wanted to help others and show not everybody has a bad experience. 1 week before my pick up I was reading negative stuff and having 2nd doubts. I was wondering if I was ready for this. Not just going EV for the first time but a Rivian. I almost cancelled my order and said screw the $500. Glad I didn’t. I leased a 2021 and 2023 Volvo XC90 and went thru the same struggles. Both on forums and Reddit I read how bad they were. Guess what? Not a single issue with those 2 SUV’s. They did me well. Pleasure to drive. Great quality. I just needed something more comfortable for the kids. More storage. Also didn’t help Volvo hasn’t refreshed the current XC90 in years. Who knows if they will now that EX90 in production. I did have a pre order on that from 3 years ago. I cancelled last year and got my money back. The more I’ve seen and read Tesla/Rivian are leading the pack with EV’s for sure.
BTW macrumors Apple forums are the worst when it comes to negativity. I laugh every year when new iPhone comes out. If you believe half of that stuff you would believe Apple sucks. Well I’ve never had a single issue with any of my iPhones nor all the Apple products in my house (we have many of them). I wish you a great pick up experience. Get some good sleep the night before. Don’t forget to post here and let us how everything went.
Your experience is far and away more common than negative experiences. Not that Rivian has never delivered a truck they shouldn't have but those are very rare and I'm not aware of a single instance of Rivian not making the situation right, or near as possible, in the end.

Congrats on the Beautiful R1S.

Agreed. No vampire drain what so ever. Gear guard on too.

Thank you. I had been driving a Volvo XC90 for the last 4 years. I always felt that car looked like a soccer mom suv etc. Barely saw dads driving them LoL . Now with the Rivian I feel like a big boy.
In Miami , Rivian is starting to grow. I’m not used to people staring at me while I drive. Glad I got the tints ASAP. It does get tons of attention on the road. I’m not used to this. Yesterday when I went BJ’s had tons of stares. Imagine what happened when I came back and opened the frunk to load stuff.

What's that?
Picked up my first EV yesterday. Miami here. Did a demo in May. I did Gen 2 R1S La Silver DM standard pack. I drive 125 miles a week. My office 2 mins away from Miami SC. I live 15 mins away. I can charge at work. It’s a dedicated line for me. It’s a family owned business and we also own the warehouse. I live 2 mins away from a Wawa with 8 superchargers.

Already received the new updated AZ2 adapter last week. I tested it this morning and it was super easy smooth.

Considering all the negative stuff I’ve read here on the AC and premium audio they both are good on mine. AC is super good. Yesterday I had to lower it a little. Got cold. Mind you is 100+ here everyday. My previous lease was a 2023 XC90 with bowers & wilkins sound system. That was an awesome sound system. Premium audio is good. I tweaked some settings and truly enjoying it.

So far no issues whatsoever with this Rivian. My kids love it. My wife likes it too. So much more space and storage. Love it how with a forward facing car seat behind passenger on 2nd row you can still slide that seat all the way forward and have access to the 3rd row. This is clutch. Previously only had access to 3rd row via the other side.

Everything seems to be working just fine. Phone key. Etc. No issues. I was so worried and scared about actually getting it. Stuff I read on here and Reddit truly worried me. Not anymore. I’ll update as I put more miles on it.

BTW I only lease. I did 36/15k. No money down. Received the Gen 2 all weather mats Monday. Installed them already. I like them. Did tints today. Ceramic front windows and ceramic clear windshield.

Oh yeah my native Spotify app works just fine. I read on here it sucked. Did I mention I don’t miss Apple CarPlay? I only used it for Apple Music and Waze. We are soon getting native music app. I would also like Sirius native app. For now playing via Bluetooth from my phone is fine too. I don’t like to text and drive nor did I used Siri much for that via Apple car play while driving. 42 father of 4 running a family business. Honestly on my drives alone I just to listen to music or sports talk and relax. I like my peace inside my car. No calls. No text. It can wait.

I'm glad you like the Rivian, and I agree with you on many points about prioritizing what you really need. While having all the bells and whistles is nice, if you don't always use them, why spend the extra money?

I'm jealous that you already received the charging adapter, but I'm happy you did. It will take away the nervousness of taking the Rivian on a longer trip. I switched to the Rivian from a BMW X7, and prior to that, I also had the XC90, both equipped with the B&W stereo system. The Rivian, even with the Meridian speakers, does not hold a candle in terms of sound quality when playing music at a moderate volume.

I'm 44 with two kids and a wife who has extremely sensitive hearing :D On family trips, the stereo volume is always set to the lowest level. With the B&W system, you get the full depth of all instruments playing, and you can hear that every speaker in your car is doing its work. However, with the Rivian, I can hear the tweeters doing most of the work, with kids in the back screaming at every squirrel they see on the tree and my wife's sensitive hearing, making it impossible to enjoy music.

I'm leasing the R1S as well, although my wife prefers the BMW X7. I'm looking forward to leasing yet another, much improved R1S. Hold the jokes about "making a decision against my wife's will" :D

I miss the B&W. Everything you said about is right on 100%. I am getting used to the premium audio on the Gen 2 and liking it more and more. I laughed at some who said their corollas or Camry sounded better than Gen 2 premium audio. Trolls I guess.

I did inquire on a 2024 X7 thru my broker. Payments were like $1200. 36/10. A lot due at signing. No thanx.

At 42 I find myself less and less having jam sessions in my car. You right kids on their iPhones and talking/noise…that’s a wrap.

Welcome! I love my R1S, never had an issue. Runs better than any car I’ve owned. Also, check out TuneIn Radio app- it’s amazing!

Great recommendation on Tune in. Totally forgot. Will do this today. BTW my Spotify app is working fine. I’m an Apple Music guy. My wife is Spotify.

Congratulations. Love the wheels. I am curious why your lease numbers are $1k+. For a $84,200 Standard R1S, I see $850 lease estimate under Rivian website. Is the website calculator not accurate?

Great summary/review OP, and great point that more people leave unsolicited bad reviews in places online than good ones. Got my Gen 2 at the end of July and agree with you on almost all your thoughts.

I wasn’t a fan of the range wheels at first, but I took them on a shop build since that’s what was available. They have really grown on me and look much, much better in person. I love them on my black R1S, but they look great on all the grayscale colors.

Also no issues here with most everything. My one concern remains the heat pump as I had a significant AC glitch on delivery that resolved itself without explanation. It also makes some horrible noises and vibrations from time to time. When it blows cold, it blows plenty cold. With the other threads about Gen 2s in the shop for AC issues, I’ve got a sneaking suspicion I may be back at the SC to get things sorted.

Amazing car so far though. Glad to hear others are experiencing the same.

0 down. I never put money down on a lease. Not a smart thing to do. Only $500 to place order + $3,250 due at signing. Keep in mind there aren’t the best lease MF on a Gen 2. Not right now. If you can swing the higher payment and keep money in your pockets you are good.
I would not give 7k down on a lease on any car. I wish Tesla and Rivian would let you roll the due at signing into the lease as I always do on prior car leases but they down.

Thank you. Makes sense. Looks like you didn’t get the $7500 EV credit. With EV credit factored in, the lease calculator numbers look accurate.

I’m sure OP got the $7500 EV credit. The lease estimator includes the credit PLUS another $7k down payment. If you do $0 down payment (I did the same) then payments are quite a bit higher than the lease estimate calculator… ~$300/mo more.
