My kiddos pointed out that the compass on the second row display does not refresh smoothly. It does so after about every 3-5 seconds.

My one request for the climate controls is that there are presets for what zones are on. When I am the only one in the RIV, I'd like for only my vents to be on. Every time I drive by myself, I have to manually turn off the second row since is does not remember the last setting. When my wife and kids are in the RIV, I'd like all the vents active. A preset A, B, and C on the main climate screen would make it much easier rather than going from front to middle to rear while turning on or off each zone.

I added sound deadening material (dynamat) to the under side of the entire plastic cover where the AC compressor is housed. It reduced the noise significantly and reduced the vibration in the pedal and the whole front of the car. A very inexpensive fix with massive improvements. I even think the AC works a little better after doing that but that could just be my imagination.
Sounds great. Did you ever start a separate thread on this. Sounds like it would be a useful one.

the cameras are soooo bad and unusable in certain light. Also partially obscured by the side mirror? Everyone else have this as well?

the ride height lines were great design. Adding the word permanently there is awful. Moving the drive mode away from ride height makes no sense

Definitely the same experience with the cameras. I just remind myself they weren’t designed to be blind spot cameras and I bought a truck that had none :D

Overall great update minus a couple minor things
  1. I preferred how the map in the driver screen was displayed prior to the update. Before, the map was sort of borderless and fading out towards the middle of the display. It looked cool! Now it’s just a boring panel. Maybe has to do with the blind spot camera. I think I’ll survive.
  2. I agree with the guy that says the drive mode indicator seems out of place at the top of the Speedo. I’ll get over it.
  3. Not update related but I wish the map denoted stoplights more clearly so I quickly could see “ok the next turn is at the second stoplight”. You can’t see the (tiny) stoplight icon on the map if it is under an active route. Also the “next turn” box at the top-left needs a stoplight icon. I feel like every other mapping app does this.

Does anyone know where they put the lock/unlock control for the second row screen after the update?

Yeah I guess I'm in the minority that I don't really love the implementation of the blind spot camera. I'm sure it's better on the refresh models, but in my gen 1 I don't think I'll use it. My eyes are better just looking at my mirror or over my shoulder.

Agreed on the drive mode symbol. Doesn't make sense. And I don't love the font - but I'm sure I'll get used to it.

Sounds like I'm bashing the update - but honestly it's all really minor critiques. Mostly I think it's great that they are continuing to update the user experience with fairly substantial changes at a rapid pace.

With all the focus on graphics, they couldn’t move the clock to the middle so the driver can actually see it? Or add a clock/temp widget to the driver screen?
This. I'd also like a clock I can see easily from the driver seat.

Anyone in Colorado get the update yet? Still waiting with my R1T and my wife’s R1S.

Suspension seems a bit less squeaky. Could be psychological though ?

Came home from a long road trip, turned on WiFi, 20 minutes later was installing...

I got mine this morning, and I met another guy at the R2, R3, Pikes Peak event in Denver today who also got it.
Thanks very much DJ!! That was a really nice event. Great to see all the new models.

I drove around somewhat more extensively today and on a sunny day the blind spot cameras were perfectly legible. So glad they’re there.

At night or in darker light they may not be that great, but I’ll survive.

it’s not like the clock in a gen 1 Tacoma just use your eyeballs and look at it.

This is a wild take. The fact there's no clock on the driver's screen with all that unused space is ridiculous. It's a clock for heavens sake. The entire control surface for this vehicle is high resolution, beautifully lit screens. There's no reason each screen can't have the time always shown with little to no sacrifice of UI real estate.

Its literally easier and safer to look at my watch while driving than to crane my head 45 degrees to the right and find the clock in the corner of the screen three feet away.
