Finally picked up my vehicle after multiple cancellations. Besides a little bit of seatbelt rattle that I'll need to investigate more, the truck has been worth the wait. No tonneau cover and apparently one won't be ready until fall sometime. As I inspect the vehicle, I did notice I have the 'Adventure Forever' badge along with 'Meridian Elevation' badge on the door card. I have the Adventure Package, not the Launch edition, so these two badges seems to be an anomaly. Or is it totally normal for '23 R1s to have them and I simply misunderstood.

Just a weird curiosity, anyway, can't wait for the tonneau cover. I guess will have to get a manual one somewhere to hold me over until the auto one arrives.

They stopped producing meridian R1 vehicles early 2023. So not surprising to have that in a 2023 R1. Adventure forever badging normal if not a launch edition, it would have launch edition written there instead.

ahh okay, that makes sense. So it sounds like I have an early ‘23 version, somehow shipped to me a year + later.
Thanks for the clarification!

My build is a January 2023 R1T and has the Meridian system. It was mid February '23 onward that they became in house.

I guess it seems odd to me now that I got a vehicle that early in the built date. How can you tell your particular built date by vin?

Had a tech drop by a few weeks back and he had to take out the side panels on the dash to address some rattle. Figured it has got meridian, however there is no meridian logos on the speaker grill on the door. Tech mentioned all speakers might be meridian, who knows it could be just those 2 small speakers at the front.

Yea seems like most drivers are still produced by Meridian, but the audio processing is done by Rivian instead of the algorithm from meridian audio.. probably some licensing cost Rivian did not want to pay.

You have to pay $1599 on top of the price of the truck if you want it to come with a manual tonneau cover and storage bag? That doesn't seem equitable.
Equitable? Not sure what you're trying to say here. Obviously you don't have to buy a tonneau cover at all.

The silver sticker inside your driver door jamb has the production date printed on it.
oh duh! Looks like maybe 01/23. Mystery solved! I also just discovered a 12v charger under the dash, I guess that is another item that went away.

still surprised they had a truck from 01/2023 sitting somewhere for so long. This ‘23 R1 promotion must have had them dig deep into their inventory. Not sure if meridian is superior but certainly happy to not have to hack obd port to get a 12v outlet!

Maybe I could have used a better word, but $1599 seems like a steep price for a fully manual tonneau, that pulls out as separate slats that fit into a storage bag. Especially if one expected a motorized one to disappear out of sight with the push of a button.

I wouldn't pay anything, let alone $1.6K, for a tonneau that removes in separate slats manually and requires stowage.
