Very true! I am sure the original dark 20's were relatively expensive to produce, but then they charged a pretty significant amount for them too. Maybe same will hold true for refresh.
Indeed. Spin forging from ingots, then CNC, then paint, then more CNC to get the machined raw AL features, then clear coat (or tinted clear in case of the darks). Same process as these really but these are likely to use less AL.

I thought the new 20” wheels looked pretty good in person when I saw them on a wrapped R1S at the Palo Alto office a month or so ago. Mind I drive a compass yellow R1T with 20” AT brights so my taste is…ummm...unique.

The new light shape looks a little off to me. Seems like wasted space in the corner lights, and seems odd that it is cut in, and not smooth (judging from the charge port pictues). Something about it gives me Jeep Wagoneer vibes too.

Definitely not a fan of the "bright" version of the new wheels.

I think you're right on the money. The limited the options available during the original rollout so it makes sense. Additionally the leaked EPA certification application is only for the lowered 2025 models. The fact that they haven't filled for the rest of the product line probably means they are staggering the roll out.
I wonder if their strategy is to sell more lower trims with higher volumes/lower margins as opposed to upper level trims with more profit margins but lower volumes??

the other day getting some charge. It was being driven from Normal to Irvine doing tests.

Sorry doggie wouldn't let me take a Pic without him being in it ?
Ah ha, so it does have fog lights—or turn signal, or turn signal and fog combo. Maybe fog lights will be integrated into headlights (honestly don't feel like I ever had to have them on). Or, fog lights will be at-cost options. Slimmer light bar may not look like a cost saving (new moulds), unless it uses fewer LEDs than current.

It looks like they fit a smaller LEDs into the same size space and filled the space around it with additional black trim. Those wheels look like the current Sport Brights. I have to see it in person.

I don’t get it. All of these sightings within 2 ft and no one has thought to take pictures of any new camera placement for Driver+ or any pics of interior from the window to see if any changes inside have been made.
Oh I'm sorry sir. I didn't really have to post these at all.

Don’t take it personal Halle berry. Same thing happened when the Cybertrucks were running around. No one thought to snap a pic of the vehicle specs in the door sill even though they took pics of the interior flooring ?

My know: They are changing the rear light bar (I saw it camouflaged on an R1T last week while driving around Palo Alto). Unfortunately there was too much traffic to be able to get close enough to it to take a pic.

My guess: they may be making these changes to the front/rear light bars to open sales into Europe and other markets. The US market is getting saturated with the R1 Platform and making changes to meet regulations can open them to new markets.

My Hope: if they do go to 60- series 20" wheels, they will let those of us who have the 65 series tires select that size in the Settings menu. This would open up a whole lot of other tire options when it comes time to replacement...and be useful for those of us who don't do serious off roading.

I think those rims are the equivalent of the steel rim you used to get on the lowest trim cars, back in the day  . The trim that had the hand crank windows and manual door locks when everyone already had power everything.
It's Rivians way to shame you into paying for the upgraded wheels.

Rivian needs to stop making rims with shiny silver finish. Looks kinda cheap in my opinion.

Silver is much classier than all black. Sure, black is cool and all but a nice silver wheel is classier and prettier. The all black wheel trend needs to die. Black wheels come standard on Chrysler Pacifica now. You know a trend is dead when it's on a minivan.
