Any comparisons between the Rivian R1S and Hummer EV SUV?

I've searched on here and it sounds like a few folks may have owned (or still own) a Hummer SUT or SUV but I haven't been able to find anyone write up a good comparison - at least via site search. On the YouTube most "tests" seem to be drag races, which isn't really my cup of use cases. Really thinking about it as a family vehicle with kids, dogs, etc. for around-town and/or long-distance family trips. We do have a gas three-row SUV, but I'm trying to use it less and less.

All ideas/suggestions/comments are welcome. TIA

I would be interested to hear experiences. Based on the specs, a big downside of the Hummer around town would be that it's 7 inches wider. On road trips, less range and the huge battery. And it only comes in 2 rows, right?

The Hummer does 300+ miles supposedly, very similar to the R1S. Not sure on road trips, you'd think the massive battery of the Hummer would be advantageous once the giant brick is moving at speed. Frankly, both of them are pretty poor aerodynamically.

Yes, two rows only for the Hummer.

Looks aside, I think the supposedly terrible efficiency of the Hummer would bother me.

Tesla and Rivian both have charger networks that are quick. But for a Hummer, even on a faster DC charger, I believe it takes a long time to charge up. And even with such a huge battery, your efficiency is pretty poor so you get less range than a Tesla/Rivian with a smaller battery.

And if you are doing Level 2 charging at home, it'll take even longer.

Efficiency is a fair point but on road tires I'm seeing people posting about 1.5-2.0 mi/kwh for the Hummer SUV vs. 1.8-2.2 mi-kwh for the R1S. Is there a difference? Sure, but feels like 10-15%, maybe less in the winter as I believe the Hummer has a heat pump whereas the Rivian does not methinks. As I'm in NJ, cold weather does impact range 3-5 months/year.

I suppose it depends on the configuration. On my R1S with 22" wheels I'm routinely getting 2.3 mi/kWh. Comparing that to anything less than 2 on a Hummer is significant. Then again, 20" all terrain tires on a Rivian also gets worse metrics too.

Maybe it is just me thinking of that HUGE battery on a Hummer. When I went from a Tesla to Rivian I also knew Rivian's efficiency was pretty poor comparatively speaking.

I have an quad motor R1T and a Hummer SUT. But they are kind of apples to oranges, since I have the road tires (21") on the Rivian and the full off road package with MT tires on the Hummer.

With the big battery the Hummer is better for towing and it charges like crazy It is still at 200kw out to almost 70% and is still above 100kw above 80%. It will get 350-360kw peak, if you can find a charger that will hold that output. I have had it charging at 300kw, and the truck is telling me the charger is only outputting 80% of its request.

The Hummer is actually more maneuverable than the Rivian with the 4 wheel steering, I find it easier to park for that reason. Personally, I almost always back into parking spaces.

The Hummer is louder due to the tires and some wind noise around the removeable roof panels, but I also have a light bar on mine that adds to the wind noise. But you can get the Hummer with 22" wheels and A/S tires that makes it more quiet, and provides better range.

Having Android Automotive OS is also nice, the displays are much more customizable and it has many apps that can be downloaded, and of course Google maps built in. Great nav system. It offers apps such as Plugshare, Waze, Hulu, Spotify, TuneIn, YouTube music, etc.

Supercruise is great, compared to Driver+, even works when towing.

You have to have a tiny "ego" to drive the hummer EV.
