What can we do as individuals or as a community to stress how much we need to be able to do hands-free texting while driving? Out of all the OTA cool features and enhancements Rivian has published, how come we are still missing what I consider a safety feature?
Agreed; but I believe Wassym said some time ago texting and entertainment would be "around 1st quarter". Someone might have a link to the Youtube.

I wonder if Rivian will ever support scheduled cabin preconditioning. It’s freezing outside and I park the car outdoors overnight. You can’t even do it via iOS shortcuts.

Just as easy to do it with app 10 minutes before leaving. I'm generally not so consistent that scheduling makes any sense

  • To avoid splashing passengers when entering or exiting the vehicle, now the front wipers temporarily pause while the vehicle is in Park and either front door is open. Wipers resume when the doors are closed.
Damn. There goes that prank.

Hmm I'm still on .38. Wonder if it'll prompt me to just skip and go to this one.

He said what he said because your question is the most commonly asked (and answered) question on this forum. He's, understandably, a little tired of the question...

That said, the answer to your initial question is that this is an internal release. It will roll out to the general population in a few weeks. That roll out is just that; it is released in groups with a pause between them. No, you can't force an update. No, you can't opt in for earlier access. Only Rivian knows what the real timeline is and when you'll get notified of an update. The roll out to owners takes a few weeks to reach everyone so, no, you shouldn't be concerned about not having the latest release yet.
I don’t know why we don’t begin every one of these update threads this way. Not annoyed or anything, it would just help newer folks find the info right away.

I didn't see it mentioned but I assume for those of us who never got the broken 2023.42 or the "fixed" 2023.42.1/2023.42.2 updates will still get the improvements from that version? I want my gauge view!

Yes, you won't get skipped with that fix. This last update just appears to have been really strung out with starts and stops from the problems they had.

Fixed a rare issue in which the vehicle location in the Navigation app inaccurately jumps forward when the vehicle is slowing to a stop.
Weird thing to be excited about but this "rare" issue occurs multiple times a day for me. I was guessing it's my location in a valley that was impacting gps reception or something. Tired of having nav reroute all the time when it thinks I went through a stoplight before snapping back. Super annoying, glad it's getting fixed!

I’m not sure I’m aligned with hands-free texting as a “safety feature.” More like a slightly less un-saftey feature. Now a camera facing the driver that watched for someone texting while driving then gave them alerts and limited their speed is a safety feature I’d get behind.
