I looked at the city government permit page. Someone on this forum posted several links including the Rochester New York location which was recently approved.

The Trenton city and Edison city website are very unhelpful for searching permits. Mercer county (which Trenton resides in) told me to contact the city. I would have expected permits by now if Rochester was January for their permits.

Oof, so another 9 months? And I'm guessing that's the closest to completion... Rivian needs to step up the progress, more and more on the road every day.

I will be pleasantly surprised if Edison opens Q1 2024. Just the thought of not having to drive to Brooklyn makes me flutter with glee

Not to pile on Brooklyn, but I too don't relish the thought of having to drive there even once for delivery of my Rivian, much less repeatedly for service. From my location, the drive is 125 miles and nearly three hours of crawling through traffic and paying a fortune in tolls for that dubious privilige. Edison is far easier to deal with and Trenton would be better still.

Sadly, the Rivian facility in MD that is also about 125 miles away and already functioning (with its formal opening only a few weeks away) is not an option. Rivian tells me that my address ties me to the Brooklyn SC, at least until one of the Jersey facilities opens. I still have a few more months of waiting for my R1S to be delivered and actually don't mind the added wait if it keeps me from a pilgrimage to Brooklyn.

I’m about the same distance to the BSC. I was very fortunate to get a home delivery. I have been warned that it may not be an option close to the end of the quarter when there is a delivery rush and they prioritize pick up’s. Not sure if true but I find it believable

I'm not sure that timing plays a big role in home delivery from Brooklyn, though it may certainly be a factor. From what I can see, while it is common for Rivian to provide home delivery for those more than two hours from the closest service center, that convention appears not to be the case where the BSC is concerned. At least not for those in eastern PA.

The default for those of us in that area is delivery in Brooklyn, regardless of the time or distance from that service center. In at least one case that I'm aware of, Rivian did in fact deliver to the owner's residence, but that was after traveling to Brooklyn for the delivery appointment, only to then learn that the vehicle was not ready.

Recently, I learned that Rivian customers are permitted to use a delivery address that is different from the address used to title the vehicle. You remain tied to a specific service center based on your address of record however, your vehicle will be delivered based on the delivery address in your customer profile.

As it turns out, the DE border is the demarcation line for delivery for eastern PA; you need to go to Brooklyn only if you are north of that. Once I learned this, I changed my delivery address to the house of a friend in Wilmington, only a few miles away. Whenever my vehicle is finally built, it will ship from Normal to a Rivian SC in MD (Gaithersburg I think). It's not clear if I will need to go to that service center to pick the R1S up, or if it will be delivered to Wilmington. Either way is far better than having to go to Brooklyn, though I will still need to bring the vehicle to the BSC for service.

Just an fyi, you can bring it to any sc you want for service if they cannot come to you for the service you request. When you call service just tell them where it is more convenient for you to have it serviced. I have gone to El Segundo, Brooklyn and Orlando.

Good to know, especially now that my assigned SC (Brooklyn) has now apparently dramatically reduced mobile service. My Guide did not mention that this was the case when we reviewed my service options, perhaps because she was not aware it existed.

That's great and since it happened relatively recently, may provide some hope. May I ask what your approximate location in PA is?

My Guide indicated that my location at only just over 120 miles away, meant that I would need to go to Brooklyn for delivery. When I asked about home delivery, I was told that was not Rivian's call and that I would need to discuss it directly with the BSC and get them to agree to it. Since that appeared to be a difficult, very uncertain process with little chance of success, I went ahead and changed my delivery address to take Brooklyn out of the equation. If home delivery was real option, I would vastly prefer it.

Allentown area. My guide told me that home delivery wasnt being prioritized when my R1S was en route to the BSC and being inspected. The email I got for Rivian when my R1S was ready only had openings to pick up at the SC. I didn't choose any for a few days. Then out of nowhere, I got a text from the BSC saying my R1S passed inspection and they could deliver it to my home....I took the first date they offered because I wasn't going to give them a chance to rethink this.

Why has mobile service been scaled back?
