Charged the R1T full night before. Got about 10mi away from home (2mi east of Phoenix Rivian Service Center) and had to turn around as the significant other forgot passports and BCs. Picked up my daughter in Arcadia area.

Took i10 stopped in Gila Bend (wishing my Lectron Tesla-J1772 adapter worked on Superchargers) to feed 4 teenagers.

yep, 6 people (4 wide in the back), food for the week,2 sets of golf clubs in the gear tunnel, and luggage - made it in the single charge with 40mi to spare.

charging in the basement garage as we speak (I type) and doing the snow update as well.

this is a LE with 20” AT and drove in Conserve mode lowest height setting the whole way.

Nice! We’ve done that trip in our 4Runner before and was curious how that would go with a Rivian. hows the charging going at las Palomas? That’s where we usually stay.

Each building (or at least two of each three by phase) has 1 or 2 spaces that has 240v. It’s slow this time of year so the spot closest to my elevator was open. I plugged in upon arrival and charged like I was at home. Need to bring your portable charging cable.
Now the question is if I am going to take the Rivian to Competition Hill or where the ATV goes :)

Nice! Enjoy your trip. What was your efficiency in Converse mode? I've been experimenting with it the past few days (and I'm also in Phoenix) and am getting between 2 and 2.5 miles/kWh on AT brights.

You gotta take the truck off-roading and give us a report (and pictures)!

Speed is the critical element to efficiency. 55-60 mph is able to hit 2.7 KWh/mi. 65-75 and that drops to around 2.03-2.1. (Not completely accurate - in general the extra 10-15mph is a 30% hit on efficiency.

Wow, Competition Hill and just all the ATV trails in Rocky Point are worth the trip to bring your Rivian R1T south of the border. First time here and glad I packed the 6 of us in the R1T vs the VW Atlas LOL

370km (240 mi), and we had to backtrack for passports (12 total miles) so we did 252 miles with ~45-50 miles to spare. Charging at Las Palomas (each building as 240v, using the portable charging cable.

Took it to Competition Hill today (Sand Dunes and Trails, hill is 40* incline) and will do doing that every day I’m here!

This is a fantastic trip report and a road trip we've made many times, as well as comp hill! What your current mi/hr charge rate?

I actually got 2.99 miles/kWh running errands around central Phoenix after work today. All local streets with some stop and go at traffic lights.

Sorry to detract from your thread. Thanks for your posts. Have a great, fun, and safe trip!

No worries. Absolutely - regen and in city driving is probably the most efficient. My issue is these long trips and driving 65mph vs 75-80mph. Have to just admit I’m closer to getting my AARP card then I am to being a college student :)

Charge rate using the 240v at Las Palomas is like home, granted I have the Rivian Wall Charger. Between 9-12 here depending on where it is in the charge cycle.

The Competition Hill was not even above 1KWh/mi LOL - but the trip down we were between 2KWh-2.7KWh/mi. We stopped twice to just stretch or get snacks/food. 4 teenagers aren’t going to sit still for 4 hours.

I am not sure how to see it for the whole trip. I’ll try and do a better job on the way back.

Started a different thread on the Competition Hill (first time/day) today. Tomorrow I’ll take my boys and have one of them video and take pics from outside the truck so it isn’t me trying to drive and video at the same time.

Hoping to hit 65-70mph on the way up the hill. Only hit 61mph once Today. Was getting used to the drift and sand modes.

Didn’t seem to see a difference in either mode on the Hill.

Will also see if I can get some pictures of the Rivian on the various trails.

And for those that are OCD (Anal) like me - the Rocky Point Car Wash was my first stop after reinflating the tires. Best 4 dollars I spent so far is the 10 minute car wash I gave my R1T.

Good to know! We're planning on heading to Rocky Point to visit my aunt and uncle sometime next month. We considered flying, because we weren't sure if there was possible route - but if you can make it from Phoenix, then we should have no problem from our immediately-previous stop in Tucson or direct from road trip down from Oregon. (Even if we have to route through Phoenix instead of our usual I-5 to Calexico and cross there. Unsure if we'll meet aunt+uncle directly in Rocky Point or stop at their US home in Tucson first.)
