My early impression Tidal sounds much much better than spotify. Sounds seems fuller, more bass and very clear mids. Just be sure to go to the settings and use highest quality streaming. And use tidal hifi+

Someone with a vehicle please provide evidence if I am wrong but...

It is extremely unlikely that Rivian supports Tidal's MQA format or Dolby Atmos in which case there is no need for a HiFi+ subscription. Tidal HiFi should be all that you need (and at half the price) and will get you ad-free CD quality streaming (assuming sufficient cell signal).

Curious to find out. For me, it sounds good, maybe a bit better than Spotify. However, 3D sound turned on produces a buzzing noise from the two speakers over driver and passenger seats by the grab handles. Sound output also sounds a bit lower than Spotify at same volumes.

TBD on whether it's worthwhile.

I would say Tidal definitely sounds better than Spotify and 1000% better than Bluetooth.

For the sake of cost, I still hope to see Apple Music added as I think CD quality is enough to get the most out of the Meridian sound system.

Are you set on highest streaming quality? I notice a big difference and no buzzing..

Yes for now I have the free trial, but I also wonder if it matters which one you have

Those that have tried both Spotify and Tidal: Is it much better when cruising down the highway with environment noise? That's generally my use case.

Yes I am. Highest tier on Tidal and highest streaming quality on the truck. From what I've read it's a software issue. I'll live with it until the truck goes into the SC.

I doubt they do either, but there is still a clear reason for the +. Regular HiFi taps out at something like 1400kbps, which is less than half of Amazon's Ultra HD (3500), but still better than Spotify Premium (300's). Tidal HiFi+ gets you up to Master quality, which is up to around 9400kbps.

That is of course if you're someone that can tell the difference between 1400 and 9400.

I've had that in the past, but it went away, perhaps with resets. Has nothing to do with Tidal.

This is part of why I ended up switching from Spotify. Also tidal pays out More to artists, if that matters to you

No, that was the whole reason I posted what I did. MQA = Master Quality Authenticated. Without MQA decoding support, you do not get Master quality streams hence no need for HiFi+.

At the risk of offending any golden ears in the room, you will not hear any difference with bit rates higher than CD quality (1411 kbps), doesn't matter if it's from Tidal or Amazon. It's largely a marketing gimmick because people who don't understand the math/science buy bigger numbers because they believe it must sound better. Fact of the matter is, much of the available higher bit rate music was upsampled from 1411 kbps source. And frankly, even the limited content truly sourced from the original higher bit rate studio masters doesn't sound any different because they don't generate signals in the audible spectrum. I'll leave it at that as I know how passionate some people can be on this subject.

I've activated my Tidal membership for evaluation purposes. I do like the interface a great deal. I like having a slider to scrub forward or backward in a song - didn't have that with my iPhone connected via Bluetooth.

1) I haven't used it enough to determine if I will keep it, but I have a month and some road travel coming up.
2) I think I've noticed that the volume may be a bit lower than other sources, but it may be dependent on the tracks being listened to. I didn't notice a lower volume this morning on my morning commute.
3) I haven't noticed any static, hissing, or buzzing from any speakers while using Tidal.
I think it is a good solid addition to the lineup.
