[pasted from my description on printables]

I have two pairs of crossbars (reasons), and don't like to leave the roof ones on, due to wind noise and efficiency. They are a bit cumbersome and take a decent amount of space in the frunk or gear tunnel, so I decided to create a mount that would allow me to store them out of the way.

This is printed in ASA for UV resistance and at 50% infill for strength. There are certainly improvements possible, but these are plenty strong for the task. I can pull extremely hard on the bottom one without it budging. I have no concern about these holding up.

You will need a couple of longer M6 bolts, as the stock ones are not long enough. Any should do fine. You should probably print a spacer, but for now I just turned the stock cup washers around.

I have been very curious about how the cross bar mounts work. Do you happen to know of a video that shows them in fairly good detail / close up by any chance? No luck Googling it.

@twraps do you have anything like this? I can't be the only person who loves the concept and doesn't have a 3D printer but would buy them from a reputable source.
I don't, but if @rhuber is OK with it, I can certainly manufacture it. Apologies for the super dumb question but what is the purpose of this? Or what is the purpose of having these crossbars over there? Is it for when you don't use them so they don't just move all around the truck bed?

If you want to carry them still, but not across the roof, bed, or in the gear tunnel.

You're free to do whatever you want with it. It was 45 minutes of CAD, so I'm not fussed if someone who isn't me makes a dollar on it.

A few questions, as I've never used crossbars:
1. Are they all the same? In other words, does this mount only work for specific brand/model of crossbars or all cross bars?
2. What's the approximate weight of these crossbars?

Thanks!

I am going to print a pair to mount in my garage so I have place to store my cross bars. These are a great idea.
That is great idea! - I would buy a pair to do the same.

I will have these in production in a a few days. I just want to clarify a few things with @rhuber and also make a small modification for the screw holes...I want to add one more for wall installations and will slate the opening on the top end to allow for screw heads to go in a bit (depending on the screw of course, but still). I will probably provide screws and drywall anchors for wall installations as well.

This is great. I'd print 2 sets today (for bed and garage) if I had cross bars.... and a Truck to go with it :crying:

THAT is brilliant work!
Patent that concept and license it to Yakima and Rivian … hurry before I steal it! : )

Just FYI they do rather depend on the truck bed to hold the weight, so I'd add a shelf or something to the design. You could probably just make them L-shaped with a bit of angled support underneath and it would work fine.
