Honestly, I find everyone bitching about this to just be naive. The idea that your reservation number buys you an exact spot in line is childish and not how any other vehicle manufacturer currently operates. Many people waited over a year to get a Model Y. We got 2 in the span of 8 weeks because of where we live and what we ordered. Same deal with the Bronco and many other hard to get vehicles. The logistics of part availability, quality control, delivery location, and service center all come in to play. And oh hey, a company that has to fight every single day to still exist in five years might also prioritize giving a vehicle to someone that will create huge swaths of high quality content for them for free. Sorry you're butthurt, but this is America. "Fair" is a fairytale.
…you hate bitching yet you’re here bitching about bitching. Worse than bitching in my book.

Now I’m off contemplate bitching about bitching about bitching ?…

My guide said there was a truck in LA last month with 22” wheels and the underbody protection- no one wanted it…
Nonsense. There are 70k reservations and your guide wants you to believe nobody else reserved a truck with 22" wheels and underbody protection? There are undoubtedly thousands of people waiting for that combination.

If Rivian can't fathom how to match up that truck to any of the thousands of people waiting for that configuration, then the Rivian production and delivery woes are far worse than even the most critical people and media sites have claimed.

Because its entertaining.

Evidently you have a very different definition of "entertaining" since watching the the same event with the same results multiple times is not that interesting to most people.

Anyway, all good. Let's get back to being 100% jealous of Kyle and his new Rivian.

Excited to see content from him! Should ultimately be a great boon to Rivian

The only reason that I care that he got one early is because Rivian made a corporate decisions to do it, but Rivian should have owned the reason why they did it. They should have given him full access, interviews, talk about what they were surprised that he found/said, and how they've made changes/have changes in pipeline for the software or whatever they're doing. Showing they valued what he did and rewarded him for it. Otherwise, just looks like someone with access to a money spigot for any vehicle he wants got access.

This puts him in a bad situation where he has to pretend it wasn't because of who he was, when it clearly was because no one else was given the opportunity to buy the car first. I know probably at least half the people on this forum would have hopped in their vehicle or on a plane and been in Normal in record time if given the opportunity.

The White + Green Interior looks a lot better than I had thought

I'm really looking forward to the value Out of Spec's ongoing videos will provide the community.

As an aside, a co-worker of my wife, located in Denver (Kyle's general area), had guide contact 2 days ago re: being able to get them into a vehicle very quickly. That is, if they were flexible with the spec.

Their pre-order date of Aug/Sept 2021.

I wonder how long he will keep it?

Sandy Munro jumped the line too I'm guessing...
I thought Sandy had ordered his wife’s vehicle a long time back and the tear down one is bought off the secondary market.

Can't wait to see the software and hardware improvements that come from his detailed tests and experience. He will put it through it's paces and document it. This will lead to better solutions for the rest of us.

I am cool with it. I like the dude.
I agree - I like his videos and at least we'll get more videos while I wait. If anyone was to get one, I'm glad he got one.

For me, the question is how often this happens, where some are more equal than others? I know Jerry Rig Everything ordered his back in 1996 so he followed the regular path; other YouTubers - like SnazzyLabs Quinn Nelson - ordered his last September after Launch Editions closed and already has his. The fact that it's so frequent and seemingly public is frustrating. It's also sadly the new normal.

Got a US address you can use?

Otherwise it’s a non starter for us in Canada, with transport Canada approval not having happened yet, and rivian not being on the RIV admissibility list.
It seems increasingly likely that nothing will happen here until after September.

I‘d use my mother in law’s address in the US if it would actually work. But even then, max pack isn’t much sooner.
I understand that you can import a vehicle from the US if it's less than 6 months old.

Sucks for us but double sucks for people in the US that have pre-orders from 2018/2019 to see other's getting their vehicles in record time.

If it is LA Silver sounds like the one I was able to get! Delivery tomorrow, can't wait.
