I could care less that a few YouTubers, Influencers, or whatever they are called jump the line. It's basically free advertising for Rivian. In the whole scheme of things it's probably a dozen trucks.

Rivian's poor communication and disorganized delivery schedule is the real problem.
Yep. It's worse that random people who have ordered in the last few months have already gotten trucks because of dumb luck.

In the video he said he did ask and they said no but then he talked to a guide he knew and they offered him this one.
So he did use his influence to jump the line. As others have said own it.

That shouldn’t happen but at least she has more than 80k subscribers.
The 'That shouldn't happen' stop is a spec in Rivian's rear view mirror.??

It’s who you know, or who knows you. That’s the way she goes.sometimes she goes, sometimes she doesn’t.

I'm not sure this explains how people are jumping to the front of the line. This would only apply if the reservation que was much, much shorter.

Regardless of what configuration someone selects today, there are literally over a thousand other people with that exact configuration that have been waiting a very long time. Maybe if you pick a rare color you could get the number down into the hundreds, but there certainly aren't any configurations with zero other people waiting in line.

I'm quite confident that you will not find a single configuration that is somehow so unique nobody else in line has thought of it.
My guide said there was a truck in LA last month with 22” wheels and the underbody protection- no one wanted it…

I disagree. They got/get their free advertising when they lend the Youtuber(s) a vehicle for a period of time to do a review. Letting someone jump ahead of everyone that have been waiting years is just showing a complete lack of respect for your customers.
But if communication from Rivian was excellent, and deliveries were on track, no one would care if a couple of YouTubers jumped the line. Hence the reason I'm saying the real problem is communication and poor delivery planning.

Many car companies let high profile people jump the line for popular models. Tesla, Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, etc. This isn't a new thing.

Because anyone without a guide contact wouldn't have had access to it. I don't think there is any way that pre-order holders can communicate with Rivian that they will accept any configuration unless they have already been contacted. At least till the R1 shop is fully operational

Ok let’s say four months (and that might be generous). That is significantly faster than three plus years.
I'd look at it this way. Kyle just took a truck that otherwise would have gone to a random 3 month old order (which we know is happening anyway). Based on the temp plate expiring 8/5 (they have 90 day lifespan), it was built over a month ago and is one of the orphan vehicles.

I wonder how long he will keep it?

Sandy Munro jumped the line too I'm guessing...

Not as fast as the ~40 days that some have seen. At least Kyle has produced a lot of content which benefits Rivian and the community.

I was supposed to get an update on my config by mid-this week. Confirmed with CS. So that means I may hear something in a couple of months. It is rather confounding and unfair that people that pre-ordered in early 2022 have received their vehicles. One person said they placed a pre-order and 40 days later received their truck. Meanwhile many here with LE's from 2018/2019 are still waiting. Obviously, I don't begrudge these folks getting their vehicles but come on now.
