I saw the gap between explore and adventure trims was reduced, and I was not able to add a tonneau cover at all. I don't really want it when there is a frunk and gear tunnel so I wondered if it is included in my truck because I was expecting it based on pre- March 1st build. I changed my configuration to Adventure today, seemed worth it to maybe get the truck sooner and a lower jump in price than it used to be.

What I'm really interested in is if anyone from Canada has taken possession of their R1T and can speak to the purchasing process. Did they buy in American dollars or what was the conversion to Canadian like? Also interested in total cost with taxes and associated fees as well as insurance. Anyone???

The earliest Canadian delivery window is July-September. While some US folks are getting their R1Ts before their delivery window. No one in Canada has (otherwise forums/fb/reddit would have lit up).

Based on the fact the later pre-orders were charged $1500 CDN deposit (vs just $1000 USD like the very early ones). And that the configurator has set Canadian pricing. I am positive that the transaction will be in Canadian dollars. Taxes would be based on the delivery address (province, we don't have city/county taxes). Insurance would depend on the province. BC, for example, has a single provider - ICBC.

It’ll definitely be in Canadian dollars.

FWIW my parents bought a Tesla model S in 2017. At that time it had to go through the Tesla location in Toronto. GSTwas collected by Tesla, PST was paid when registering with MPIC (Manitob’s ICBC equivalent). they just took the bill of sale and NVIS to an MPI broker to register ahead of delivery. Same as any other car...except it was dropped off at their house, so a temporary registration wasn’t needed.

What or where do you see the set Canadian pricing in the configurator? All I see is 78125 for my configuration.

Then you probably need to contact support to have your pre-order fixed (or find out if it *needs* to be fixed).

I had a very early pre-order (Dec 2018). When I ordered - they only accepted payment in USD ($1000). After the configurator launched - my config showed US delivery estimate (July 2021...remember that?) and USD pricing. Rivian went through a large number of early Canadian pre-orders and "fixed" them. Which usually involved them creating a new pre-order, moving over the config and "place in line" (whatever that means). The original pre-order was cancelled and the $1000 USD was refunded. The new pre-order had Canadian Pricing, and showed a $0 deposit paid, so full amount would be due on delivery.

Later pre-orders, after they were taking $1500 CAD pre-orders, were always in CAD and it was not an issue. It just impacted earlier ones who had paid a deposit in USD ($1000).

OK, I just spoke to customer service and they said they were going to change it to Canadian pricing so whatever that looks like on their end. Thanks for the info

Hey all, R1T ordered Dec '21 with delivery window 2nd half '23. Over year to go before deciding whether to go through with purchase but 99 3/4% sure we'll buy. Since price has gone up so much as of Mar 1, pretty foolish to give that up. Unfortunately new fed budget still isn't much of an incentive (and PM thinks he's doing well with climate change -- what does it matter someone's financial situation? replacing an ICE vehicle with EV is a win for GHG emissions). Sadly, my provincial gov isn't doing anything at all for EV buyers.

While pricing seems a little high, once you start looking at alternatives (and frankly I don't think there's even one out there in same category as an adventure pickup) it doesn't look too bad. Hummer is non-starter for me and Chevy Silverado doesn't appeal (don't want contractor's pickup). Other premium SUV's like iX are even more (than pre-increase price). So anyone who's got an order with pre-increase price is pretty fortunate.

No idea what delivery might look like or even where vehicle might be coming from. That's less of a concern. Biggest worry is what to do when service is need but no local service centre. I'm in Oakville and there's a local Tesla dealer nearby. Would love to see Rivian open up close by.

Anyway, good luck to all the Canuck's with orders placed.

Hi there, fellow Halton'er.

I have a 1st Half 2023 delivery estimate and am not very optimistic about Rivian meeting this target. They provided this target when they said they would have transport Canada approval by June 2022, but this has been pushed to September. Add to that Rivian has not shown any sign of life in Canada.

Not too concerned about timing just yet. Would be nice not to be pushed to '24 but not much we can do. Delivery dates for lots of vehicles being pushed, being delivered missing certain features and pricing that's seems crazy. Our Q7 is on 4-year lease till Oct '23 but we've got such low mileage and used pricing is so high on this model our buyback seems like a steal right now.

I think all of us in canada are in fine shape, relative to people in the US.
Given that no one has a delivery window before july-sept of this year.

2018 R1T Preorder - Contacted customer support to have them revise my original USD order to CAD pricing. They cancelled the original launch edition and reordered an adventure model...

Your guesses are as good as mine on what will eventually show up.

if you didn’t have launch green selected and didn’t have either of the no cost wheel upgrades selected….adventure is the same thing As LE ?

seems like a thing they could fix pretty readily though.
