I finally got to demo drive the R2. They had a Catalina Cove and a Glacier White outside and a Half Moon Grey inside at the Fishers, Indiana Rivian Space.

If everything goes well I’ll be getting the R2 Standard Long-Range in Esker Silver. I put my photographic skills to the test and took a closeup of the sample and another showing how the light reflects off of the body curves. Of course it was inside and I forgot to ask the attendant if I could take it outside in the sun, but still cool nonetheless. I really tried to capture the metallic flake. Enjoy!

My brother-in-law and I did a demo drive on Saturday (my 2nd demo, his first). He loved the vehicle. I asked the sales person if they had the Esker R2 on the lot. He said they did and showed us. My brother-in-law said "Wow, that is stock.....that's nice". He has the R1T Gen1 El cap and it is a little lighter than that, but somewhat similar

Yeah it is absolutely stunning. Soooo Underrated. Just because it is the "free" stock option doesn't mean it sucks. It absolutely does not! Has a light Blue/ Pewter undertone that pops at different angles and in overcast/ shade. Gave me OG Limestone vibes. Loved Limestone color on the R1's. I saw Esker Silver on an overcast day at an SC and absolutely fell in love with it over the Catalina Cove "Teal" I have seen in person. Not a fan of Teal or that tone of Bluish Green that comes out of it.

We drove the R2 that was catalina.....it is a sweet color for sure. Our R1T Gen1 is the Rivian BLue and it is a stunner, but that Esker for the R2 is amazing and I was surprised that it is a base color....usually white is the only one.

Leasing Model 3 until R3X comes out, but now I have an R2 reservation as well.

Glacier White seems like the obvious choice for the included paint color, especially since it doesn’t have any metallic flake in it. I drove one and it just blends in with everything else. Maybe that’s why they decided to change it and make the R2 stand out a little bit. Still not a bright color, of which I think they should have at least one. Red Canyon, Rivian Blue, or something else.

Funny you mention Rivian Blue…heard in a recent video that it may be coming to its end. Could Catalina Cobe Takes its place in the R1 line or a new color to come?

That’s interesting. I feel like Catalina Cove is extremely popular. It’s more of a Cerulean Blue than a teal though (more blue than green). I found it too dark, even in a little bit of shadow. In the sun it just looks very flat to me. Hopefully Red Canyon doesn’t go away, too.

Funny, I have a silver R1S and I think that's the color that tends to blend in the most whereas the white pops the most. Kind of like a zebra stands out more than a hippo :)

The pruple color for the PERFORMANCE package is pretty nice....not super bright like the Rivian yellow or blue, but not bad. To us, the Esker checks all the boxes of a nice color for us.

What I chuckle about is all the White Teslas I see driving. It seems like all I seeare the Blue ones, red, Black or white. At my jobwe have chargers....one time, all the chargers were taken by Teslas....mostly white ones. So much for making it easy to find your car in the parking lot. At least with the Rivians they are unique in design and color.

I honestly believe Esker Silver will be a rare color seen as a lot of people are going towards the other colors.

Only for now. It's the free color. It'll be everywhere on the lower trims once they're out shortly. Same as grey Tesla's everywhere; used to be white Tesla's.

Yes and No, more people are willing to pay the extra $1k to not have a grey/silver color. I think White will be more popular than Esker Silver on the lower trims

Green is not a popular vehicle color and people wanting the sub $50k trims aren't going to spend $1,500 more for green. They are already very price sensitive as it is.

I didn't say anything about green. Your data shared proves my comment that people will more than likely go with White just to not have grey. If they are spending $45-50k for a car, they are going to spend additional on something to get more bang for their buck and that typically starts with the exterior color.

I think you underestimate how much people are not willing to pay $1,000-$2,000 extra just for a color, especially the price conscious folks. Us buying at the top trim LE sure no problem. We are all paying for what we want. This is evidenced by all the white Teslas when it was the free color and now all the grey ones everywhere now that that has been the free color for awhile now.
