Today I rear ended a sedan that made a right turn from the left lane, slammed on their brakes, and into a one way street going the wrong way. I was driving straight in the right lane.
Unfortunately Driver+ didn't help here. I can't remember if it tried to brake or not. I was in conserve mode since I was running low on battery. In another post on this forum I said I'd never use this mode after almost rear ending a car on the highway when Driver+ didn't slow down fast enough when traffic ahead was stopping. I now firmly believe that emergency braking on Conserve mode is not as good as any other mode.
The 45 degree angle of the car turning into the one-way street perfectly aligned up with the front recovery hooks and destroyed the sedan's rear end. The Rivian held up surprisingly well. I was so worried when getting out that I'd have a destroyed front end but by the looks of it, just the plastic bottom piece needs replacement. The scratches looks like they can be buffed out. The Honda on the other hand will needs a full bumper, taillight, and quarter panel replacement.
This is a service center vehicle, not my personal one, so can I count this as my first official scratch?
