This thread is meant to connect current Rivian owners with a Comma AI installed that are willing to give demo rides/drives to other Rivian owners looking to possibly purchase. With the advancement of the Gen 2 Universal Hands Free, more and more Gen 1 owners are feeling left out or like they are missing out and are now looking into the Comma AI option. Just like vehicle sales, getting people in Comma equipped vehicles will make up their mind rather quickly.

SO, if you are a current Comma user and are willing to give another from your area a ride, or even possible let them drive, in your vehicle demonstrating the Comma in action - reply here and I will try to keep this initial post updated with your City/State, Vehicle type (R1T or R1S) and Username so that others can DM you here to connect. If you don't want to list your info here, you can also DM me and I'll keep a private list as well. That way if someone from your area is interested, I can give YOU their Rivian Forums contact and you can choose whether to DM them or not.

If you are a Rivian owner that is interested in seeing the Comma in action and do not see someone listed below in your area to contact, please reply to the thread with your location and if someone sees it and are willing, they can contact you. Also, you probably could come back now and then as this list gets populated to see if there is coverage in your area. Also, remember that these people are taking time to help you. Be courteous and understanding throughout the process.

Things to note here - If someone contacts you and it seems shady or they are asking for money to pay for their time or ??? PLEASE contact me right away. As with anything, be safe about meetups- never meet at your house, make it a public place, yada yada. Rivian Forums nor myself are responsible for anything that happens in a meetup that you schedule. Be safe and have fun !!!

I am close to pulling the trigger on a Comma 4 + The Longitudinal upgrade kit on my Gen 1. I'm in Southern NH and once it comes, I'm willing to demo it.

We do have someone in the Long Island area that has requested a demo from someone in the area - so if you have a comma, are in the Long Island area and willing to show off, let me know please !

Real simple question but those that have had Comma and then had issues with their vehicle (like Kyle at out of spec) is this permanent damage to the vehicle electronics or the vehicle completely reverts back to factory with no issues as soon as Comma is unplugged?

Have to say that after Kyle had issues and Rivian chased it back to the Comma AI system as the reason, it pulled my desire for Comma. Pretty poor on Kyle for not having a detailed video on exactly why the issue and his million details. Was it resolved? Was it a connection issue?

If Comma wants adaption, then that specific Kyle video needs to be explained why it happened and the fix or why adopt it

Hope someone can shed some real light on the issue. The lack of an infinite response video from Kyle makes the matter even worse. Stands out and makes the question mark even larger than it probably is.

Know he is not the end all and be all but it has poured water on it completely.

My personal experience: I’ve only had my cruise control terminate (4) times for no rhyme or reason, and was able to reengage immediately after it faulted. Total drives as of this post = 962.

OoS really did a disservice to a great product here.

I, personally, experienced the same motor fault issues that Kyle was having. I wish he would have responded to my requests to discuss, but alas, this is Kyle. Anyway, there should be no "damage" to the vehicle. The fact that he let service look at his vehicle with the harness still installed just left it wide open for them to blame the 3rd party component. If you reread/watch that video transcript, you will see that the only reason they said it was the Comma, was that they couldn't find an answer in their own systems. - THIS ERROR IS VERY RARE

For me, the errors changed over time in how it presented and actually I have not had one in a few weeks at least. They were always at start up after getting in the vehicle. NEVER during a drive. Always resolved with a reboot.

There are steps to mitigate random errors that many of us have done - I chose not to as a way to possibly be a test target for potential fixes. I've always theorized that this particular issue was due to the vehicle and the comma "waking" at the same time and causing a random message to be thrown at the CANbus at a time that causes an error.

There are folks that have random cruise control faults and this is something even stock Rivians have been experiencing. They too, usually, would allow the system to re-engage right after. If you ask any Comma owners here, the benefits well outweigh any of the rare issues.

Thank you Kaos! My patience for issues with any of my vehicles is just about a 1/2” fuse I just can’t handle the issues or faults anymore. And I use to mod a ton of vehicles, piggyback chips to go with superchargers. I am just spent after a lifetime of modifying vehicles. I literally just want to get in them and drive now. That’s it. So for anyone in my state of mind, the unknown issues are bothersome if you know what I mean.
Knowing what we are fully getting into is important. If Rivian is abandoning Gen1 in this atea and appears to be, then it means we have to go elsewhere. So disclosure is inportant.

I hear you. The errors at startup that Kyle and I experienced are VERY RARE. I only know of one other person and it actually stopped presenting the error for them a while ago. So, you're chances would be rather good no to have an issue like this.

Thanks Kaos and I reread my reply. Fixed all the misspelling and wrong words in it. See I can’t even get my speak and spell to work correctly at times. 🤣🤣🤣

Hey, I'm pretty good at reading between the lines. My wife had a stroke back in June and you wouldn't believe some of the texts I've gotten..... :)
