Would never buy a green car, except British racing green. The Rivian green is more lively and suits the SUV well.

BTW, I remember reading a comment on Instagram from Scaringe that they'd be launching with 8 color options to choose from.

Someone mocked up the R1T in red. Eye catching color but the awesome rear brake light strip would totally disappear with this color.

I’m hoping that there is a metallic charcoal. I’ll be replacing my Ram with a Rivian.

Great looking rig. Wish you could keep poth. A classic “gas” powered truck.

I was thinking I would want one in a gunmetal grey (somewhere between the black and silver). But after seeing the blue and green I'm second-guessing myself. The first green image looks great.

I don't know that white will help much, given the glass expanse on the roof. I live in south Florida, and the current fad for glass roofs on so many brands is very disturbing. I have twice test driven a Tesla Model X, and the interior of the glass roof is hot (not warm) to the touch. Even with the A/C blasting, there is a zone of warm air at the top of your head. One reason I have not traded my 2015 Model S is that a Tesla can no longer be had with a metal roof. All the hype about the effectiveness of tinting to block heat is just that -- hype. The two vehicles that most interest me as my next EV -- the Rivian R1S and the Lucid Air -- are both going the glass roof route. The Lucid uses a single piece of glass all the way back to the brace over the B pillars. Can you imagine dealing with a rock chip on such a windshield?

I don't like any roof that has to be opened. I never bother with them. I've had too many and will not pay for any more. My 911 has a metal roof. Sales tried to push a panoramic glass roof, even a metal one. I did a build order. You will never find a deleted panoramic roof on a new build on the lot. As a reservation holder I'm concerned that I will have to accept a glass roof. Hopefully there will be a shad with the chromatic roof but I doubt it.

I did a road trip last summer in a Model X and one of my concerns with the extended windshield was being in the direct sunlight for long periods of time making in uncomfortably warm. I was pleasantly surprised by how well the window blocked the heat and diffused the light. Not once did I ever feel the sun was beating down on me (which I'm not a fan of as I keep my sun shade in my vehicle closed most of the time) even on the days with full sun during the height of the day. ... OK, back to our regularly scheduled program of the OP ... R1T colors. :)

I notice you live in the Chicago area, EyeOnRivian. I lived in Chicago for eight years and drove a convertible for much of that time. In Chicago, I could drive top-down comfortably for about eight months of the year (at least with a heater going). In summer it was particularly nice. I brought a convertible down to Naples, FL when I moved and got rid of it within a year. The sun down here is MUCH stronger. Even in winter, I would bake sitting at a traffic light with the top down.

Before I bought my Tesla in 2015, a group of five of us went over to Dania Beach to test drive one. The tester had the panoramic glass roof option. Every one of us noted the heat radiating through the glass was too intense. The glass itself was almost too hot to touch, and there was a zone of hot air under the glass. So I ordered the metal roof. Last year I test drove a Model X in Naples. As I was particularly interested in the back seat accommodations, I spent some time riding in the second row under a glass roof panel. Just like in 2015, the glass was almost too hot to touch, and the air just under the glass was uncomfortably warm.

I checked the sun energy between Chicago and Naples latitudes. As one goes north, the curvature of the earth means that the sun's energy is disseminated over a progressively larger area. The difference in greatest in December, when south Florida gets over 900 watts per square meter of energy and northern Illinois gets under 400 watts per square meter. In June, when the northern hemisphere is leaning more toward the sun, the difference between Naples and Chicago narrows to about 10%.
