Here is a link to my previous post where I did a short review and initial impressions on the Overland Ruff Rax bed rack, I have since then updated it with a 1000 mile efficiency update, so feel free to go check that out for latest range testing.

But I was so pleased with the product, and was pretty happy with my efficiency, I thought to myself "Might as well add more!" So I purchased the Overland Ruff Rax roof rack. Once again just a disclaimer I am not affiliated with them at all, I am simply reviewing a product that I purchased.

I will be conducting another range test, below is my picture of 100 miles. My testing is done everyday driving, off roading, commuting, highways, everything. So far I am getting 1.96 since adding the roof rack, and I believe it should improve my range due to that wind deflector, but only time and miles will tell. The roam adventure box will not be on the vehicle for range testing, solely only for camping trips or photo ops.
I will update at 1000 miles.

The top of the rack is made from extruded aluminum so it makes it very easy to mount anything to the roof rack, can use t-bolts, t-nuts, carriage bolts, etc. It is very easy to get things off and on.

It also installs directly to the OEM mount points so no modifications are necessary.

It is very easy to install and can be done with one person, it is removable in one piece but would recommend a second hand so you don't damage your vehicle.

As always feel free to reach out if you would like any additional pictures, information, or testing!

They had an R1S prototype at SEMA, so I would imagine so, but right now with so many more R1Ts I am guessing thats the focus.

it is very very close to being production ready. I would refresh their page every day if that’s something you want because it’s that close

I’d like to know the height of the top of the rack from the top of the bed of the truck, basically like below but to the top of the rack.

Your setup is looking boss btw!! If you can keep getting nearly 2 mi/kWh like that I will be impressed, there is hope for my ultimate setup after all.

Thanks for sharing. Looks like a nice setup - what was your mile/kwh before the install? Trying to gauge the difference between the 1.96 you are getting now.

I got roughly about ~27 inches from on top of the tonneau to the top of the rack. Was a pretty quick measurement though

I never got my efficiency from it being bone stock so you might have to reference some other posts for that.

but basically:

With only ikamper on bed I was getting 1.82 over 1000 miles

With ikamper on the bed rack I was getting 1.80 over 1000 miles

with ikamper on bed rack AND the roof rack I’m getting 1.96 over 100 miles (still early but promising numbers so far) I will update at 1000.

None of my efficiency testing has been the same, but it has been regular driving. I haven’t been babying trying to get best efficiency but I also wasn’t zooming around the whole time. It’s been a good mix of off road , city commuting below 30 mph in all purpose , highway speeds cruising on conserve around 70mph, trip to big bear in all purpose in cold weather conditions, showing off sport mode at stop lights to friends, and just driving it how I would every day. So it’s not a perfect efficiency test, but it is real world averages for what I do over 1000 miles.

Dude, your setup and truck are absolutely killer! Great call going with the black handles on the roof rack instead of orange.

it was the overland ruff rax owners call, I’m glad I listened to him! I went grey for awhile but it was a match for Tacoma grey and not limestone. I do think if they ever release a yellow that matches rivian accents I’ll do that.

Ah, cool. Well, regardless of who made the call I think everything looks great.

How exactly do the risers on the bed rack work? I’m curious if it’s possible to raise a full size Skycamp to bridge across the roofline from the bed rack to the roof rack.

Also, have you tried removing the bed rack yet? Is it a major chore?

I really appreciate your posts on these accessories and answering our questions. You have no idea how helpful it is.

risers are basically like a two-tier bracket with a slot on both sides, I don't have them, so I am going off pictures! But yes, with risers you can definitely put a larger tent on the back.

I have not tried to remove it, but it was meant to be able to remove easily, and in one piece. As long as you have enough friends or a forklift it wouldn't be hard.

No problem! happy to help!

Thanks for the quick reply. This is all really tempting. I’m looking at configuring a motorized hoist system to make mounting and dismounting easier. It sounds like I need to pay ORR a visit.

Have I mentioned how awesome your truck is? Haha.

if you’re local it’s worth just running down to his shop and talking to the guy. He’s very knowledgeable and cool to talk to!

I definitely didn’t have any buyers remorse with this purchase!

But thank you! I have a few more projects planned sooooon.
