What do you guys think of the $69,000 starting price ($61,500 with the tax credit)? I assume most will opt for the larger battery too.

Looking at the specs on paper, if they can really deliver on them it almost seems like a bargain for the level of luxury and performance. Is it just me?
There will be a lot of options that will be available during the rollout, therefore, the final price will be much higher unless you just opt for the bare base w/o any options. I'm thinking my 135kWh midrange with all options will be close to 100k.

I hope the heck not!! If that’s the case I (and I believe many others) am out. Yes there is the environmental aspect which motivates me to purchase either a R1T or R1S (reserved) or both but there is most definitely an economical impact. For both the R1T and R1S, the either phasing out or complete exclusion of state incentives for these vehicles due to price (eg >$50k) and assuming a non-negotiable price of +/-$100k is just not even acceptable cocktail party conversation no matter the $7500 federal incentive...that is of course only up until 200k units have been sold which we don’t know where we are at because Rivian isn’t disclosing reservation count information.

There is going to come a time when people or their accountants realize this is real money and non-negotiable +$100k for a mid-range truck or SUV with no federal or state incentives or business write offs doesn’t make smart money sense.

I'm with you......I would definitely be out. What has been displayed from the start should be standard features, unless it was stated otherwise, at the beginning of taking reservations. Maybe it was, I don't recall. Anyway, no 100k for me.

Men, I'm with you all here. Rivian mentioned that there would be a lot of options for this truck got me thinking about how my base F150 Platinum went from $56K to over $70K with all the b & w! If the options gets out of control, I'm going for to the Model Y instead

When I was in Seattle I spoke to an employee who was really knowledgeable and after a few minutes of talking with him disclosed that he was in charge of options. He said that Rivian wasn't going to nickle and dime you with options and that even the base model package would be good value for your money. We will have to see what the option prices are but I believe they won't similar to other ones based on his statement. I'm holding onto their mantra of under promise and over deliver.

Good to know. I guess we all have to wait and see how Rivian play this out. Thanks for sharing this information!

I believe the R1S that is out at shows is the 135kw option. I can't find it now but there is a special badge on the interior of the dashboard that makes it seem that this vehicle is an upgraded model and not the base.

What many people are thinking is that if you opt to go with the 135kw battery or larger you "automatically" get some upgrades versus the base (smallest battery) since you pay a significant amount for the battery upgrade. It's watch and wait at this point.

This has been confirmed by A Rivian engineer in a video I’ve seen.

The $35K and $36,200 vehicle are one and the same. The $35K price does not include the $1,200 destination charge added to all Tesla models/trims.
True. But there was another wrinkle. In May 2019, Tesla upped the base model price to $36,600 (including destination), then lowered it again in July to $36,200. The car remains available only as a special order.

In the 28 months that the Model 3 has been in production, a $35,000 model has only been available for 8 months, and Tesla still refuses to disclose how many have actually been delivered to customers at that price (or $36,200 or $36,600 if you include destination).

You are likely referring to the writing stamped throughout the interior that says "LAUNCH EDITION" along with the name of the interior theme (Forest Edge, Lunar Rock, Black Mountain). It's unclear if this is simply to identify the show cars or something that will make it to production, but it does imply there will be some sort of special package for early production vehicles, as is common with new EVs.

Yes that's it.

Now if that model is the 135kw base, "launch edition" meaning they are the first ones rolling off the line then I would say that is priced spot on at 70k.

The wheels look upgraded, has the adjustable air suspension, carbon fiber battery enclosure protection, wood trim interior and so on. Now if those few things I stated are upgrades then this will get pricey very quickly.

Air suspension & battery enclosure will be standard. Aero wheels w/ carbon fiber inserts are supposedly an option. $70K is starting price for the 105kW pack, which will be available after the 135 & 180kW packs.

I'm guessing a well-optioned 135kW, like the prototypes, will be around $85-90K before federal $7.5K tax credit. We will all know once the configurator launches next year...

Thank you! I forgot 70k is for the smallest battery.

If the 135kw prototype clocks in around 80-85k before tax credits it will be a reasonable price in my opinion. If it's pushes into 6 figures then ouch.

Next year is here in a few weeks right!?!?

Pure speculation, but I think configurator availability timing will be announced @ Fully Charged Live Feb 1/2, possibly for a month or two later. Previous statements have been early 2020, if I'm not mistaken...hopefully not later than April.
