Dude. You're a beast! Are you hiring down south?? :CWL:
One of my sons has been saving for a Tesla and the Cybertruck will be timed right with right price. The other one will be a company truck and the R1S will be for the wife. The R1T will be mine at this point. But we shall see what unfolds.

Good evening.

We are quickly approaching the end of the calendar year and just 2 days away from the 1 year anniversary of the announcement of the R1T. With the 1 year anniversary coming up and the announcement of the Cybertruck just last week, I thought it would be time for another check-in for any new reservation holders in the Sunshine state for either the R1T or R1S or maybe a check-in of someone who was swayed away from Rivian by the announcement of the Cybertruck.

We still have our Rivian R1T reservation. How about the rest of y'all?
Great question, although I am not a Floridian I like your question and wanted to join this conversation.

I need more information about the Cybertruck to make any decisions. Price is certainly a catalyst for consideration. I have also seen a lot more BEV's in the SUV and Truck category coming out at about the same time. It is forcing me to think about what is important to me in my next vehicle. With the larger car brands delivering their BEV's it makes me think about the ability for Rivian to be a long lasting manufacturer. Will they reduce their price, probably not. Can they afford defection from buying a R1T/R1S for good enough options?

I would love to hear other opinions. For now I am holding true to buying a Rivian.

We also need more info on the Cybertruck but then again we also need more info on Rivian.

After owning many varieties of dodge, ford, Nissan, Audi, Volvo. I am done with the dealer having control of software. I realize that owning a Tesla they control the software but I am fine with that as it cuts out the middleman. So as long as Rivian maintains that and tries to add better service and whatever else they feel they can improve on compared to Tesla I am game.

But for us overall service from Tesla has been fine and has been better than service from Volvo or AUDI. Some of that could be south Florida issues. We end up having to drive about an hour to get decent service.

I think Tesla has had a chance to improve on service and they seem to be improving the manufacturing line as well. I saw CR the other day added a model back into the recommended.

One thing I am very interested in is how much bezos and co will have input into Rivian.

I am on the fence now. I am not a fan of the cyber truck look but I am also concerned with how Rivian will perform service and repairs.

I am very curious but not at all concerned. They're not going to spend billions delivering vehicles and then not support them. They've also observed some of the challenges encountered by Tesla and are trying to learn from those experiences but they do have a vision for how they expect it to work. Yes, the details are still a mystery to us but it's only been about 90 days since the Cox Automotive investment was announced and it will take some time for the benefits of that partnership to materialize.

We just have to be patient a little longer but, rest assured, we'll have the answers to all of our many questions before we start taking deliveries.

I'm pretty sure Rivian will have service covered from the outset, just as Tesla did. (The service I had from Tesla during my first two years of ownership was the best I ever experienced with any brand. However, it degraded significantly once the Model 3 hit and overwhelmed their service infrastructure, and it has taken them almost two years to get close to where they were at the outset.)

In such a new design, there are inevitably going to be problems with components and systems once Rivian gets a sizable fleet of early vehicles into consumer hands, no matter how thorough their pre-production testing. A robust service network will be necessary to analyze those problems and to collect failed components to return to the factory for examination.

If Rivian is not set up from the outset for this task, they will fail very quickly. Nothing I've seen from them so far indicates they have any intention to take that risk.

Rob from Indialantic here. I’m still very excited for the R1T but will be changing over to the R1S due to family needs. I even have 2 friends from work that have ordered a R1T and R1S (I’m still trying to get them on the forum). I attended the NY auto show and was thoroughly impressed. I am so excited about my first EV that I am even installing solar at my home to help “close the loop” but mainly because I’ve been nerding out on all of this stuff!

@Novo-caine... Same here about the excitement. Both of us are just as excited about it as we were when we placed our preorder at NYIAS. That's also exciting that you have some co-workers who have preorderedas well! When I come down to Satellite to visit my folks once we all get our vehicles. We will have to get together at Doubles or something.

Can we interpret that to mean that you feel Tesla service is more or less back to "normal" at this point?

Fortunately, I don't need service enough to develop anything more than anecdotal impressions. For what it's worth, though, my recent experience has been that service is starting to become more prompt, but at the same time, Tesla has made it more difficult to contact them to request service. It used to be that I would call the service number, describe the problem, and have a mobile service truck dispatched the same or next day. Now no one ever answers the phones, and you can wait two or three days before a voicemail is answered. If you go onto their website to schedule service, the link to mobile service does not take you where it says it will but instead plunges you down a rat hole of wrong people for the task. I haven't needed service in recent months, so I don't know if that situation still prevails.

Best option so far is via the app on your phone. Take pictures of damage or explain this issue. This is what we found was best.
