We plan on using ours, partially, to tow a food trailer for my wife's small business. It would be awesome if the truck had trailer-specific self driving, backup and parking modes to give my wife more confidence getting to and from worksites. Could be supported though a software update?

Rivian has indicated that they will be offering home charging equipment. Here's my request: make that equipment work the way the Tesla HPWC does with regard to sharing a line. One HWPC is the master and allocates power to others based on circuit capacity less what the vehicle connected to the master is drawing. And here's the big request: make Rivian's chargers compatible with Tesla's comm bus protocol so that a Rivian charger can be put on the same circuit as a Tesla HPWC.

Lots of good ideas here... I'd like to see the following since we're talking a premium price point vehicle...

- An interior noise dba rating of < than 55dba @ 70 mph standard. <55 dba would be awesome (if they could achieve this at 70 mph) and I'd be willing to pay extra for it.

- Sensors that are mounted higher up on the vehicle (not on or in the bumpers) where possible to keep insurance premiums as low as possible. while these sensors improve safety and lower accident rates... the insurance companies are charging more in premiums because the replacement cost is stupid expensive....half the accidents but the accidents that do occur cost 4 times as much, get to a point where we build vehicles that have less accidents and have lower insurance premiums and are reduce the total cost of ownership for us.

- A plug-in "Jerry Can" battery pack capable of 50 mile range for emergency situations and/or the ability to be charged by a portable generator like this: https://www.generac.com/all-products/generators/portable-generators/gp-series/gp3000i ,which I carry anyway when offgrid overlanding and/or the ability for solar charging (would be neat if they could work this in to a rigid folding tonnuea cover) if parked. having a solar charging ability would really speak to the sustainability and adventurous marketing strategy of the vehicle... no dependence on a grid or charging infrastructure that is already going to be taxed with all the EV's coming online in the USA... just park it outside and it will charge up, done. (if the zombie apocalypse comes It's nice to know I can mark watney expedition my ass to my bugout location, slowly but surely... )

- A roll down rear window (not sure this is possible with the tunnel though) but love this feature of the 4Runner and full size pickups I've owned in the past
- Integrated offroad cameras that are actually functional for each wheel
- Anytime rear camera view ability, anytime bed camera view ability (for that matter a bed camera up above the 3rd brake light to monitor your cargo)
- A towing hitch that doesn't compromise departure angle or ground clearance. Towing electrical connections that do not require one to crawl under the vehicle to plug in the trailer.
- Pre-drilled holes in the bed floor to install a bed slide or drawer storage system.
- Aux air and retractable fill mechanism in the frunk for air down and air up situations as terrain changes (standard equipment)

That would be nice to have and in fact the vehicle will have it - at home but not in the field. The practicalities of charging have to be considered. For example, the typical high output panels one sees on a rooftop are capable of about 1/4 kW at 1 kW/m2 insolation which one can, on average in the US, perhaps expect to see the equivalent of about 4 hours per day. That means one of those panels will supply approximately 1 kWh per day. The Rivians are going to drink about 500 Wh per mile driven. Thus in one day for each panel carried you can expect to add 2 miles range to the battery. That's without considering conversion losses and phantom losses in the battery. With one panel you could probably cover the phantom losses and expect to add 2 miles per day for each additional panel you have with you. A bit better for days that are sunnier than average and worse for days that are less sunny than average.

I would like IFTTT. For example, a mode to put my truck in home mode, i.e. open garage door, lower the truck and fold the mirrors in. I have a low ceiling and tight garage.

I would also like to have a batch (maybe touch up pen) of the exterior paint choice since it's an adventure vehicle bound for scratches and rock paint chips.

Also Rivian to test difference upholstery cleaners (maybe even make one or partner with an environmentally friendly company) and recommend one. I plan on getting the lunar rock upholstery and want it to stay clean.

As Rivian is operating in “stealth mode” – it’s hard to know what Rivian might have up their sleeve, but here are a few items on my ‘wish’ list…and I’m sure there will be more:

- 12v accessory outlet(s) in the frunk area for accessories.

- An optional cooler (like shown in the demos – being placed into the frunk area) that would connect to this 12v outlet(s), so that the cooler can operate all day/night to maintain proper food temperatures.

- 12v accessory outlet(s) in the front – will be nice to have for installing radar detectors

- Power windows in the back that fully roll down (not partially down). Also like the full rear windows as seen on the R1T in Argentina.

- Comfortable/supportive (driver) seats – that are not too short and actually support thighs, especially on long trips

- Rear/side camera views that can easily be displayed while driving. My daughter’s Civic does this this for the passenger side – so for exiting you can quickly/easily see if anyone is coming up along your right side before turning.

- As LeDough stated above “It would be awesome if the truck had trailer-specific self driving, backup and parking modes…Could be supported though a software update?”

- Ahead of delivery/manufacturing time – either a home charger recommendation or an actual purchasable home charger unit from Rivian that we can buy and have installed BEFORE our vehicles arrive.

Already got one of my wishes - for a blue color option for the R1T

I spoke with RJ about this at length in Seattle. The rear doors/windows will be a single pane like the Argentina trucks (in fact, those trucks are VERY close to full production, major pieces of them were made in the factory in Normal, IL) and will FULLY lower into the door. This was one of the main reasons for shifting the window configuration.

Hi godfodder0901.

Thanks for confirming about the rear windows - that is great news!
Based on RJ's comment to you regarding that the Argentina trucks are closer to the actual production versions - looks like the charger will then also be moved to the driver's side - which I did like better.

The real deal breaker for me will be the "fixed" rear window.

Paying a lot of money and not being able to remotely open the rear window by the bed just does not work.

You can slide things through but also be able to get some ventilation.

I really want to get this vehicle but, yes, a little thing like that would really need to be explained as to why it cannot be done.

I also would prefer the charging port be on the driver side, but when I brought this up to a couple of Rivian reps at the Normal event last week, specifically sighting the EAVs spotted in Argentina, I was told the charging port will remain on the passenger side. (Perhaps they didn't get the memo from RJ. :) ) A Rivian rep also admitted they follow the Rivian forums ... <wink><wink> Seems like this would be a simple change to put the charging port on the driver side -- they did it for the EAVs in Argentina.

Driver side would be better for me and my situation.

After more thought, it seems we have a mix of right siders and left siders so choosing one side or the other is going to make charging uncomfortable for the other users.

A second charging location also provides a back up charger if one charger has an electrical or mechanical failure. The backup also means drivers will still be able to drive their Rivian if a fender bender damages the charging equipment.

For a $70K+ vehicle another charging plug can't be that expensive.

It seems like if the charger port was on both sides it would make it easier to charge Rivian to Rivian.
