Don't get me wrong here. I'm not attacking Rivian, at least until I know more about the arrangement they've made with Electrify America. I'm attacking the high rates for Electrify America at some of their chargers. I have found that they vary widely from location to location, more so than can be accounted for by differences in local utility rates.
Volkswagen is building the Electrify America network as part of it settlement agreement with the U.S. for its diesel emissions fraud. To allow VW to charge rates that turn EA into a high profit center for them actually turns what was supposed to be a penalty for a crime into a lucrative business proposition.
These are the barriers whether real or perception that the EV industry needs to keep knocking down.My brother lives in a high-rise in Atlanta which only has two slow EV charging outlets in the garage, both of which are usually occupied.
Also, since I wanted to compare apples to apples in terms of actual fuel usage, I did the calculation so as to arrive with the same charge on the battery at which I departed. I was calculating the actual gallons of gas used, so I wanted to compare the actual electricity used.
My Honda Odyssey uses premium fuel. That's why I used the price of premium in my calculation, as indicated in my original post. (Actually, I used $3.25 although premium in Naples is currently running around $3.159)I think the comparison to regular gas is a flaw in the calculations. These perform like high end brands that require premium fuel.
I can't see it being excluded, but I bet it won't have hard buttons...likely SW or voice interface. One feature I'm not sure I've seen mentioned is a built in garage door opener like HomeLink.
I put premium in my Volvo yesterday and paid $3.89. Only time I see those prices is when we go to Orlando. My Honda Odyssey uses premium fuel. That's why I used the price of premium in my calculation, as indicated in my original post. (Actually, I used $3.25 although premium in Naples is currently running around $3.159)
I believe the spec chart you're referring to was released about a year ago. Rivian is now putting some of that information on their website which I would now go by over that spec chart. I recently compared both (I posted it some where on this forum) and a few specs did change, most notably the vehicle length for both EAVs by approximately a couple of inches. This past weekend at the Normal event I had talked with the R1S team lead about a full size spare tire. He said he had to squeeze every little bit of space to get a full size spare to fit. When I asked him if this had anything to do with the R1S' length increasing he said yes.I saw that 200.7" figure, too, in a review I recently read. However, the specifications chart released by Rivian gives the R1S length as 5,040 mm, which is just under 198.5". It's not much, I know, but every little bit helps.
2) DittoHere's my wish-list...and yes some redundancy from people above but just consider that another vote!
1) Pre-wired AUX switches (a la the wrangler tow package). Part two here would be pre-placed mounting points for brackets for things like A pillar lights, winch, rear fogs.
2) Factory installed PPF (a la the new defender), specifically with the ability to replace individual panels in the future...cheaper than paint!!!
3) Rock sliders (frame mounted). Not sure integrated step is necessary (will keep cost down) as the air suspension should make egress easy enough.
4) Full size spare in the R1S. Take a look at the best selling Grand Cherokee (hint: its the Trailhawk....with a full size spare)
5) Lightweight integrated roof mount for rooftop tent.
6) Wireless carplay
7) Front facing trail camera
8) Smaller wheel size options....18in with more rubber would be ideal!....with that in mind, bigger fenders and wheel wells to fit bigger rubber.
9) Exposed tow hooks
10) Foot activated trunk and hood
FWIW, I believe I heard/read somewhere that the gear tunnel will also have less capacity.I personally am getting the R1T. It was been mentioned by folks at Rivian that if you get the 180kWh pack in the R1T, I believe I will lose the underseat storage in the backseats.
All these years I thought it was NAS Patuxent River....in the military...PAX is passengers.
