^^^^That would be a shame.

Also, has anyone else noticed that there doesn't appear to be a glovebox?
Lol. Was just thinking that today. Not sure if there is one but there are drawers below the seats and center console. Though it’s not clear if those drawers are standard or not.

Any info on the audio system?
Android or Apple Auto?
Qi fast charge pads?
Sirius or XM radio?

Thanks for the pics. I am also on the "Black Mountain" color scheme. I felt the pictures of the R1T and R1S interiors were a bit bright. Of all the pics the color palette was the most useful

I would like to see a demo vehicle with the Black Mountain interior

I flip flop back and forth with this thing. I was concerned about their longevity but their plans to build for other companies has eased that. My big concern now is the option packages.

Every car I have ever bought was fully loaded. The most expensive was 55k out the door.

Do I really want to drop 70k and have to pony up even more money to get all the features I’m seeing in their show cars? Are they going to charge 5-10k to unlock the self driving features? Am I going to have spend tons more than I would in any other car I’m looking at and walk away with less features, unknown quality, unknown longevity, unknown service ease, and still the highest price tag I’ve ever paid?

I think my “wow” from the auto show is wearing off and the sprice issues are settling back in. I know a lot of people will drop 100k on their cars. Not I.
Things you can find on a car less than 50k
Heated cooled multi power seats
Head up display
AWD
Adaptive cruise
LKAS
All your safety features
A safety pick plus from IIHS.
Leather, wood, aluminum interior.

So this car is giving me better gas mileage. Which to be honest I will never equal the premium I’m paying. This car is “greener” however the carbon footprint of that battery pack actually is immensely larger than that of an ICE engine and it will again take at least a decade before the Rivian’s lower carbon fuel cancels out its higher carbon production.

There’s increased performance which is less an issue for me as I’m a pretty speed limit kind of guy.

When I look I wants. When I think I think why would I buy that. If you’re someone buying Range Rovers and 100k plus cars sure though I think you’re equally crazy for paying that much for any car today.

It is hard for me to believe that I am still seeing posts like this that say it will take a decade to recover the increased carbon from manufacturing an EV versus and ICE vehicle. Try more like 18 months for the longer range EV's. Not a decade. The Union of Concerned Scientists did this definitive study and it is easily found with a quick search. Over the life of an EV versus and ICE vehicle, the ICE vehicle generates double the carbon footprint of an EV.

What is the carbon footprint of the ICE exhaust compared to EV exhaust. That should swing things toward EVs especially in areas of hydroelectric generation.

I posted in another thread (can search) my resources. And I used the concerned scientist website to look at the EV carbon footprint for my region.

In my area in the Midwest a model X gets a 42mpg equivalent due to the fact my electricity is coal. It’s right on their website. That’s great for that size car but not zero emissions by any stretch and a Prius can do better.

Again this is my region. Where the grid is greener there is a marked difference. 90210 is the only California zip I know and there it would get 96mpg. Believe me. I hate that my state is a bunch of coal worshipers.

I’m not trying to spew misinformation. I’m saying for my area of the country and my electrical grid this car would not actually be much better than a hybrid (and worse than some) so offsetting the production co2 (which I will grant is a big unknown estimate) is questionable.

Not trying to be a jerk or confuse people. But it’s not as simple as EV is better. Someday it hopefully will be when the grid is clean. But out here in trump country your electrical outlet spews almost as much co2 as the gas pump.

I bought an EV for a completely different reason than to "save the planet"
reasons for me
1. Much less maintenance
2. Electricity is much cheaper
3. Much better performance

IMO not much you can do as far as how the power is made but after the fact is what I am more concerned with. I live in Arizona and we are dragging our feet as far as solar and wind. My power company is SRP and they do not make it easy to go solar, they don't offer net metering. I have thought about going solar but in order to make it work I would also have to invest in a battery system

I lease my Model S, which I have 2 more years on a 3 year lease and my next EV will be another Tesla, Rivian or maybe a Ford ( I am assuming Ford will be using the Rivian skateboard) and if they do that maybe a strong possibility

I tend to gravitate more towards a darker toned interior, my vote does go to the "Forest Edge", however I totally detest wood grains anywhere, especially in a car. Absolutely not a fan of the wood grain interior, so I do hope there's probably a carbon fibre option, or at least anything other than wood. Rock inspired maybe?. As silly as it sounds this could actually be a deal breaker for me. Regardless I am definitely looking forward to Rivian's success and a very good rollout come 2020!

I agree with you about darker interiors, I felt some of the interior color choices have been pretty bright especially with the Green R1S. The Black Mountain is closest to what I would choose. A rock option vs the wood would be a cool option

You can take matters into your own hands a bit by just installing a solar array and generating your own clean power. The new house I am building in northern Michigan has a 14 KW fixed roof array that went active onto the grid in early February and has generated over 6.6 MWh so far - even with snow coverage and lots of cloudy winter days. I am ditching the damn coal!

One conversation from Denver that I forgot to mention was with the VP of Interiors and he said that the wood trim is an upgrade and that there will be other material options instead of just wood.
