I just received an email from Rivian saying they will be at the X games next week, so I am going to be able to see it in person!

Out of curiosity- do you have any affiliation with Rivian? I ask because I’m curious why you got an email stating this yet nothing official has been announced.

No affiliation. Maybe I won a free R1T?

Just saw the official social media release- Looks like Thursday-Sunday 9-4. R1T on display Thursday & Saturday and the R1S on display Friday and Sunday both at the Gondola Plaza. I might try and make it out there depending on weather.

From their twitter feed:

It says "Electric Vehicles" so I would think both R1T and R1S will be there. It seems they've been rolling out the truck and this is the kind of venue for it. No knock on the R1S but a SUV doesn't exactly scream adventure.

According to their FB and Twitter accounts, only the R1T is there- as of today. A few cool pictures and video of it driving into the plaza. Wish I could be there, and see both of them.

Well, since Thursday was a bust as the R1T showed up very late, I did go back today. This was difficult for me as I utterly hate Aspen. But I did get to see it today and ask a lot of questions. However, I didn't get to sit in it or anything which was very disappointing.

Some things I found out.
-It will have active roll control which will really help the handling, but also when four wheeling, it will work to keep all four wheels on the ground.
-The off-road tires will rob as least 10% of the range.
-The range is figured at 55MPH. At 70MPH the range will be about 1/3 less. Or around 267 Miles
-It doesn't not have any self aligning features. I am really curious to see how much the alignment changes with a change in suspension height. I don't see how the toe wouldn't change.
-They will start with 8 color options that are not yet set. I recommended Burnt Copper.
-The interior is non-leather synthetic. They will have a fabric option. But the seats are cooled and heated, so that should help with the sweaty back that synthetic seats cause.
-They are working on a bed cap.
-Self-driving not going to be available while towing, initially.
-You can lower the tailgate from either side. I see the placement of the switches as an issue for the bed cap.
-Tongue weight will be around 400kg.

Most of the questions I had couldn't be answered because there wasn't a person who worked in that area. I really wish they had someone who answered technical questions sitting at an email. :)
