Perhaps just a very low profile set of locking rails and a platform would meet most owners' needs. This would allow for customization with bins or no bins.

I applaud your ingenuity but question the applicability... it seems similarly over-engineered as my A/C vents so maybe it fits the Rivian perfectly.

Seriously, the multiple gear tunnel slides and storage bins appear much more functional with regards to more room, quicker deployment, and simpler operating parts.

For specialty work truck use cases, maybe. For me, I would pay for a super low profile, easy to use from both sides manual slider that can come 75% out of the tunnel.

Manual is exactly what I was going to ask about. How thin, and cheap, could we make this if it was manual and you just pushed/pulled on the items on it to move it? That would be easier to break even on. I don't see this being worth the cost to bring to market, but love the idea. If only it was slimmer.

the conveyor system uses slightly less space than the currently available slider shelves. The reason why slider shelves take up more space is because they must clear the open gear tunnel door while deployed. I believe the conveyor can afford about 0.75” more vertical space than the currently available slider shelves.

I appreciate the effort and desire to bring new Rivian accessories to market.

This would be a pass for me due to the space it takes up, the price, and the fact I keep my clubs in the tunnel so I have no need for the bins.

I do like the idea of a smaller, unpowered version of the “treadmill” design that would make it easier to slide things in and out of the gear tunnel.
+1 here. I too appreciate your efforts, and I too use the gear tunnel for large items like watercraft paddles/oars, handle tools like axes, and the like. A thinner slide-out would be great

I've never run into an issue grabbing things in the tunnel, but I do have this in the bed to move things in it. Could also be used in the tunnel. $20. Takes no space. It was also useful to remove someone's drone from a tree in camp.

The bins are optional features. Here are a few videos that show the conveyor being used without the bins.

I think this is spot on. Getting stuff out of the gear tunnel is not really a huge problem as you can simply just walk over to the other side. The reason why slides are popular is that they have multiple purposes. For example, you can pull out a slide and use the space (e.g. a kitchen or a work surface), and you can mount stuff to it (e.g. a jack or tool box). Your idea @Transfer Flow solves a minor inconvenience without adding the value the slide brings. Plus, it's a lot more complicated, costly, and I can see several draw backs with your design that I can't see getting past. For example:

1. loss of storage space. Even if minor it is less
2. you could no longer toss small/loose stuff into the tunnel as it's going to get hung up on those rollers
3. if you want something at the far end of your tunnel you can't use the conveyor without having to pull every item out first. Or...you just walk to the other side and be in the same situation we have now.
4. Expensive (and even if it was free I'd struggle with the idea having it)

As others have said, I like the creative thinking, but I'm planning on getting a slide for the tunnel.

I can't figure out if this is real or we're just being trolled? ;)
I had the same thought as it seems this would be an over-complicated and expensive setup - and take up much more of the gear tunnel volume than other gear tunnel slide offerings. After extensive research, I opted for the @EV Sportline system as it's super robust and very fairly priced for what you get. Then there are the myriad of accessories for it, and a soon to be released camp kitchen (rumor only). For those interested in my review of that system, follow this link -
