If you look at the ones here, every city has an existing supercharger and from the few I checked, they are being built in the same lots as a supercharger.

It's like rivian can't get electrical upgraded so they can only build where someone else puts them first

And there are 17 "coming soon" stations whereas the tesla network has 1100 coming soon in US and Canada
100% made up.

Go check yourself. Where is the asheville RAN station going? Right in the outlet mall next to the existing tesla supercharger.

Where is the Albuquerque RAN station going? Right next to tesla

Where is the nags head RAN station located? In the same parking lot as tesla.

Where is the wickenburg, AZ charger located? 0.2 miles from the tesla supercharger.

Where is the tyson's corner charger being built? Same parking lot as a tesla supercharger.

Pismo beach RAN? Same parking lot as tesla

And that rivian wickenburg lease is from 2021. They've been going slower than tesla and they are paying $50 a month for those parking spaces. I bet tesla not only paid $0 for that wickenburg but some of the development cost was paid by the city of wickenburg.

The ones not currently in construction have old permits from 2021 and they may as well just turn around and build them where tesla has stations now. So far the only ones in construction are built next to tesla

There are almost 700 RAN stations. Your “theory” is currently based on less than 1% of them. And adding RAN that are 1/4 mile away is laughable, even for you.

There are not 700 RAN stations. There are maybe 700 stalls.

18 stations is like 20% of the RAN network if we exclude waypoints which is only L2

Tesla's 1100 permited stations is probably 14,000-20,000 stalls. Considering some stations are in excess of 100 stalls

in fact in asheville, where the 6 stall rivian is going, tesla already has 65+ stalls and is currently on track to open a 20 stall charger with all pull through

when you build them next to an existing supercharger it's easy

Tesla upgrades electrical to make a lot of these happen

you can look at the tesla charging x page. The put out seemingly 100 superchargers a month

last month tesla put out 30 chargers in the US alone with most of them being 12 and 16 stalls. Largest was 24

In a single day tesla opened a 120, 52,48, 38, and 12 stall superchargers. That's the equivalent of 45 RAN stations

In fact many of these rivian "permits" are from 2021. Rivian is moving slower than tesla at this point
They used to put out many many more stations every day until someone threw a fit and fired the entire supercharger team. Brilliant move. They were finally starting to put more in rural areas like truck stops and targets. Now they are down to a few a week in NA.

Your "here" isn't everywhere. And RAN isn't done expanding is it? It's still every "young". You don't know if every RAN will end up being on the same block or within 5 mile radius of a Supercharger, 5 years from now, 10 years from now, 30 years from now.

Besides, you don't control that budget. Moot. And moot.

Rivian Wow!  11 more RAN stations added to RAN map - 17 in total! {filename}

The firing of the supercharger team was management. Building speed was always the same because there are teams of people that drive around and build the superchargers

Don't think that's true. Go look at supercharger.info before and after the team firing. It's a night and day difference. He fired the entire 500 person team, not just management.

It takes a lot of people to build superchargers

Tesla builds the stations in Buffalo, that's not the issue. The 500 person teams finds locations, working with permitting, electric companies, contractors, etc. Look at the reports of contractors not being able to get a hold of anyone since they were all fired. New station locations ground to a halt. Now instead of 2-3 per day we are getting 2-3 per week if lucky.

2-3 per week? Tesla is still putting out about 30 stations a month. If you look back before they were fired it was the same

The contractors tesla uses for superchargers drive around and do them

No it wasn't. It was many more before the team was fired. Especially in the weeks/months it took for him to realize his mistake and hire some back.

it is literally the same. You can see on supercharge.info

The speed at which superchargers were opening was the same

Elon is all about efficiency and it is hard to do that when you have more than 100K employees. You become bloated

61 in March 2024; 40 in March 2025. Seems like less to me but maybe I don't know how to count.

That's not "many times" less

And you don't know how to count. There are 29 in march 2025. And 45 in march 2024

only counting US as there are superchargers built in europe somewhere else
