Have my r1s quad first for almost two years then get a Dual R1T large since august. The lack of "kick" in the dual is noticeable to me. Only good thing I can see better in the Dual is the efficiency, and it is not much. My lifetime in my quad is 2.33 (30k miles) and dual 6k miles is at 2.39 kwh.
If i have to redo it, I would have get another quad.

If it were me, I would get the quad motor for the sole reason of the extra 26kWh battery capacity.
Plus 26kwh is the sweet spot. If you need the efficiency, use conserve mode. Fun fact: I drive a quad Gen1 T and my wife drives a dual Gen 1 S and as a general rule, the S struggles to match the Tā€™s efficiency for some reason.

Thank you for your reply... This is exactly what I'm wired about. the lack of Quad power.. no overly worried about efficiency.. cheers

Unless I upgrade to the dual performance I wouldn't get conserve mode in the Gen 2. So that is a great point. Thank you.

Thank you to all who have replied. The idea of a Gen 2 with all the new features was very temping at first when I built my new truck and made an order. But the more I weigh out all the current issues some people are having, and the fact I'm losing power and battery size. It makes me think, I should hold of on the Gen 2 for a couple years.. I get there will always be build issues with any new company and first year of a new build .. My current truck has had its fair list of minor issues when I picked it up. For me it's a great time to get rid of it and get a new Truck. There are still a few 2024 left to grab and I think it makes sense for me to go that route.. After going down this rabbit hole for the last couple days, I don't think it's worth the upgrade right now. Cheers

Simple question,

No leasing options in Canada, would have to finance. no incentives on 25 Rivians now. New build Dual large would be close to the same price as 24 Quad.. I have a 22 Quad currently, love it, but it's time to get new truck. Reading, so many people unhappy with build quality and problems on there new 25. Then some have no issues... Cheers and thank you to anyone who responds..
If you go with 2025 R1T with Max, then the post on 2.99% might change your mind. Or the post on the used and show models. There is some good deals there.

So you are in Victoria and I am on Samish Island where I am actually north of you. Yesterday, we had our first freeze of the year and I was out in it all day with my quad. The heater, I believe, is not an issue for us at this latitude. What for me, in even thinking about a new model T, is Rivian stopped building compass yellow. I like it and so do many people I come in contact with. So I'm stuck with my old model T that has had no build issues.

Easily boil down whether you actually need the additional range doesnā€™t it?

From your ā€˜22 to ā€˜24 youā€™re not gaining much, other than the small production improvements. Going to the ā€˜25 you get latest vehicle architecture, higher-res cameras, lighting tech and heat pump (which matters for your colder climate). But, most gen2 changes are for sake of better bottomline for Rivian, not visible or felt from user POV. Plus, right now, gen2 appears to be having a lot of teething issues with software and build QC.

If you have no problems with your ā€˜22, upgrading seems like a poor financial move IMO. I'd wait for dust to settle.
2025 Gen2 would probably make it more worth doing. Rivian saves money on Gen2 also because the overall design is better while fixing some gen1 issues. The build quality is much better overall too based on my issues.

Have you done the math of going 25' R1T Large with the idea of having a better trade for R3.in 26'?

I thought about upgrading to a dual motor max for awhile because I do a lot of towing, but after hearing the growing pains of gen2, and the max battery only having 9 kWh more juice, Iā€™ve decided to go all in on my gen1 quad. Iā€™m at 51k (10k towing) now and fully intend to test the 175,000 mile battery warranty.
