I agree with your concerns, and share them. But I'm not sure how firm a "by Thanksgiving" commitment we have Rivian...I think (hope) the question is rhetorical, but I'm getting very concerned about the status and progress of Rivian. I know this will likely be a controversial topic, so apologies in advance.
Remember when all LE holders were told that we'd be contacted by guides, AND given estimated delivery dates by Thanksgiving? None of this has happened, and at this point I consider these statements to just be flat-out lying to customers. (with the understanding that Thanksgiving is still a few days away)
Back in August someone in this forum posted that he was told by a guide or CS that all R1T LE holders would be contacted by Thanksgiving. More recently I've seen messages that claimed ALL preorder holders and/or ALL LE preorder holders will be contacted, again, from CS conversations. Its much less clear to me that we should expect specific estimated delivery dates that apply to specific orders. Its possible we get an update of Rivian's overall delivery targets. I could easily be wrong, and welcome corrections, but is there an actual Official Rivian communication documenting the "Thanksgiving delivery estimate communication" to preorder holders"?
A google search of my emails referencing Thanksgiving from Rivian only finds this April 23 comment:
"A dedicated Rivian Guide will be assigned to every preorder holder. Guides will begin reaching out in May based on the above three factors, however, due to the large number of preorders, many of you won’t be in this initial cohort of outreach. We expect every Launch Edition preorder holder to meet their Guide by Thanksgiving. ......
But I'm still hopeful we'll be getting a specific communication with estimated timing for our specific orders.
