As a very early order holder, Nov 27th, 2018, I was initially told deliveries should start at the end of 2019. That has changed many times to the current June 2021.

Why not just make all Rivians 2022 models? Most manufacturers, bringing out brand new models always make it the following year model.

When will there be a model change?, January 1st, 2022? There has to be issues in changing documentation between model years.

It would just make everything easier if they were all 2022 models.

Somebody please inform RJ about this. Still plenty of time to change this.

What? Why?

What possible effect does this have on anything?

I guess? Very minimally either way I would think, at least about resale value.

Ego wise, sure, might as well call it a 2022 haha. We can be slightly more futuristic than all these losers in 2021

What makes anyone think the LE vehicles won't all be 2022 models?

It's interesting to me that before buying cars with over the air updates, I paid a lot more attention to model years. However, having had Teslas for the last few years, I think less about what model year it is and more on what the cars capabilities are (AP1 vs AP2 for example). With the Rivian platform, I don't know that it will matter as much what model year it is, at least not to me.

all good input... but I second the motion to advocate for Launch Editions being 2022 MY vehicles

I bought the first V85TT Moto Guzzi that came in early June of 2019. It was titled as a 2020.

I haven't seen anything from Rivian designating a model year at all. Some media websites are labeling it a 2021, but no EPA docs or anything official.

Unless I am totally mis-remembering this, but the delivery date has only moved once...From late Q4 2020 to June 2021...

IIRC there was mention of 2019 release prior to the unveiling in LA.?

Prior to the LA reveal there was zero publicity. Any dates given would have been pure speculation by the writer. The official timeline was always ~2 years from reveal to R1T, and R1S following a few months behind. I anticipated a Spring 2021 delivery for my R1S prior to COVID.

I agree with you. At reveal i never heard anything before "end of 2020" but the recent video from transport evolved(regarding being 1st etruck to market) that was posted in another thread states that there was some mention of 2019 delivery. I do hope they can remain on schedule for June R1T/August R1S release.

I suspect Rivian is already planning on designating LE models as 2022s, but if not, I hope they reconsider doing so...

Regardless of what year they put on it, the LE models will still be distinct from the later non-LE models delivered in 2022 based on the "Launch Edition interior badging" or for those who opt for Launch Green.
