I got the new update the other day and went for my first longer drive last night.

The first problem started about 30s into the second song, it just stopped playing while driving through Sandy OR on my way out of town. Of course it was trying to stream the music but failed, after a couple minutes just skipped to the next song and it started playing. So yeah it's obvious but it's not going to work well with low LTE signal. Unlike my phone I don't think their is any way to have music stored locally.

The second issue I encountered wasn't really really due to Apple Music vs Bluetooth but after my first stop I jumped back into my truck to head home and Apple Music was playing but no sound out of the speakers. I had to switch to a different media app and back until it started playing. Yes my truck has done this on bluetooth many times so I am just complaining but how does this bug still exist, my truck has been doing this for 2+ years now.

On the plus sound the music sounds great, just goes to show what we have been missing without Apple CarPlay all this time.

I'm sure you'll survive.
It sounds like Dolby is pretty particular about what they allow for Atmos, and that a vehicle manufacturer has to submit a vehicle for testing after implementation before they will grant a license. "Just having carplay" isn't enough.

It does sound great like I said. That said there is a lot of value in playing lossless music from my device vs streaming it to my truck via an LTE signal. That was my main point.

I have noticed bugs here and there with the Apple Music app so far, like all of your recent songs won't load, or even the Home screen is blank. You have to go in and out of the app to get it to come back. Sometimes that doesn't even work. I've kind of accepted the buggy UI, and just hope in time they will perfect it.

Similar thoughts here, but with USB playback vs BT/streaming, the latter of which is prone to failure, which forces one to mess with stuff while driving. I don't consider a feature a technological advancement if said feature creates more work and/or increases risk. I recommend pinging Rivian about this.

Only topped by the anti-CarPlay whiners.

Why native Apple Music != Apple CarPlay

Because they have nothing to do with each other, and now the native has made things worse in a way. You can't run it if you have an aftermarket CP unit (I do) so you have to choose your poison/compromises. So stupid.

I must say that I love the sound of the Apple Music app. It's a good addition. Yes, I wish I could download songs to avoid the problems associated with a lack of/slow signal: That is why all of my playlists are downloaded on my phone. However, I've been playing lower quality bluetooth sound for long enough that I can revert to that when needed.
As Gloria Gaynor said, "I will survive".

So far, I like the Apple Music app better than what it is on Carplay.

I'd still like to have the ability to do Carplay.

I support your ability to bitch on an online forum.

Bitching in an online forum that is not direct to the company has about as much positive effect as stopping freeway traffic to complain about oil - all it does is piss people off who have no power over your complaint.

Most cars with CarPlay have okay/poor infotainment , they use CarPlay as a poor excuse to not build better infotainment.

I would rather have a company focus on building a great infotainment than a mix of CarPlay/their own.

There are third party options for CarPlay devices I think
