false, there’s aftermarket FSD. Unfortunately the Rivian is not yet supported. I’m thinking about sticking one in a Leaf.

Also he asked what needs improving.
Ok genius. How is he, an aftermarket tuner/speed shop going to improve autonomy in the Rivian? He isn’t a software engineer. He doesn’t have access to the proprietary dev stack. Rivian is going to laugh at him for asking.

This exists and there was an announcement about it here. Search for it. Not expensive, either.
You're thinking of this:

That's farther back, between the front wheels. We're talking about the silver plastic piece in front of that.

I am by no means a parts knowledge guy but hearing and reading the biggest complaint is suspension related issues. I can’t tell you what that entails but that’s the biggest complaint that’s part related.

You should keep assuming that things can’t be done instead of answering the question asked without presuming.

oh, also, the same way it’s been done for many other cars with no access to the internals. You should read before you post stupid assumptions.

Would love CNC aluminum(?) grippy steering wheel selector wheels. Hopefully there's a relatively easy DIY disassembly of that part of the steering wheel.

R2 and likely a gen 3 R1 will update the steering wheel the fancy haptic wheels but these rubbery ones aren’t great.

I, also, nominate suspension components. I'm approaching 50k, albeit slower than others, and the OEM options sound less than ideal. 😂

Registered, first post: Suspension.

Have 2 older coil Tesla S's, no problems, both near 150k mi. Predictably, air always needs more $$ but Rivian suspensions aren't DIY serviceable and, from posts here, can run 50k-120k mi owners an extra $4-8k. This is deal-breaking both a new/used R1 sale, for me. I buy for 6-8years. I'll risk inverter failures, drive units, batteries (post 8yr), etc., but not extravagant dealer-installed consumables, like accumulators, bags, struts, compressors/tanks and lines. Even the air/hydraulic bleeders can cost >3k if someone is adventurous enough to try DIY (vacuum&pressure). AFAIK, independents can't yet help.

A reasonable Bilstein yellow, "heavy duty", coilover, at a fixed, half-shaft saving, height appears long over-due. Without it, IMO, depreciation will just keep whistling. A viable service approach, and parts pathway, for the air system would also be great. The latter is, after all, pretty special, worth more, but not at the potential for @~$1,000/year.

Bed step

More durable trim for the bed cap. I’m on my 3rd because I actually use my truck for conventional truck duty rather than overlanding or whatever. .

1. Fold in/Swing out bed step like RAM has.
2. Grab handles for all passengers and driver.
3. Glovebox type storage.
4. Soft open/down assist for R1T tailgate.
5. Pull tab/handle for Gear tunnel doors.

The pre-production version had these. They got REALLY hot and could be painful to use.

Two items that jumped out at me, but may not be in your wheelhouse:

1. The rear liftgate needs a lightly lit button such that you can see it in the dark. Front would be great as well, but I think that'd be permanently visible unlike the rear hatch.

2. A replacement cover for the trailer hitch. The plastic on there is a PITA to get off and I suspect it'll break eventually. I don't want to leave a hitch hanging out on this vehicle, so I remove and replace every time, and it's just too flimsy. Bonus points, make one that'll accommodate a stow and go hitch from B&W so I can leave the hitch there, but hidden.
