I also find the Rivian nav system to be difficult to read/view -- little contrast, tiny type, etc. Especially in bright sun or if you're wearing sunglasses.
? This.
We need better screen controls to increase the brightness and contrast. That screen is VERY easily washed out by the sun to the point of being totally useless.

More Rivian Navigation failures: In Breckenridge and I70 in Colorado for about 45 minutes Navigation had my location off by up to 1/2 a mile, telling me to turn on roads that weren't there. My iPhone navigation knew exactly where I was. In Denver driving to a location it tried to route me ~1/2 a mile off the road I was on, do a loop, and come back to the same road. It's really, really, bad. This is like initial iPhone navigation bad, so a 13 year regression in capability.

While my Rivian nav instructions have been bad, it’s always shown the vehicle in the right location. This sounds like a software or hardware problem.

Have you tried restarting your infotainment by pressing and holding the outermost steering wheel buttons? If that doesn’t work there may be a hardware problem where the nav is losing GPS signal at times.

I got the CarpodGo. Carplay/Andoid Auto wireless screen, new 2025 model. It's a lot more expensive than those $80 cheapy units but it looks nice and sleek and boots up quicker than the OEM system screen. I'm only just trying to figure out a good clean way to mount it. There are some 3D printed brackets that wedge up under the dash to mount this thing right above the large OEM display that I'm considering.

Not all nav’s are perfect everywhere: we live at the top of a dead end road (actually a fire road with a gate) in Silicon Valley.

Was having a party and food delivery used Apple Maps: they were routed through another town, to the other side of our hill and blocked by the fire road. Ended up being over an hour late.

Some guests ended up in same predicament: they were only about a mile away, but Apple Maps didn’t know it was a blocked fire road.

So the guests and the food wound up at the same place? Sounds like it worked perfectly! Everyone got fed and no mess for you to clean up.

But, yeah, I'm in a similar position: there's a location about a half mile away as the crow flies that actually requires a ten mile drive unless one wants to ford a creek and drive over a field and a railroad track. Nav systems sometimes miss this detail.

Rivian’s Nav system is a bit cumbersome to input an address, sure, I can sync it via the app. But still a bit of a nuisance. My biggest gripe is how traffic is represented. Would it kill them to make the red and yellow lines just a pixel or two wider? And more accurate. So many times I’m driving and I’ll find myself in traffic. Map shows a red line, but it’s on the opposite coming lane. While my lane shows nothing.
At least partner up with a map company that has better and up to date data. Lol
I updated to 2025.6.1 in the middle of my trip. Seems like a huge difference on the traffic indicators, I can actually see them on a glance with the satellite image displayed.

Has anyone else noticed this?
