Eh, I just use an old regular tarp and some ratchet straps. But that's a good price, the last time I looked (back when I had an 8' bed F-250) they were way more expensive than that for ones with built-in straps. Putting that on my list for when the current tarp wears out.

Just another load of dirt, but I realized after I put the tonneau on, I had nowhere to put my muddy shovel! Ski/board racks to the rescue! This is after I unloaded a yard of clay by hand...

Partial pallet of pavers. Went back for the other 2 with a trailer the next day. Bought for about 1/5 of the cost of retail from a contractor with leftover inventory. He said a full pallet weighs around 4k lbs, and this was a little less than 1/2 I think. Tonneau just cleared them and drove like nothing was back there. Scariest part was watching him drive the forklift in loading it. He was definitely a master and never blinked and not a scratch. Much quicker than offloading these.....one....at.....a......time when we got home. Definitely my heaviest load to date and also my first time getting to tow getting the rest. It's going to be a DIY project, and we have almost no clue what we're doing, but have all the free time we need to figure it out.

As a side note, also realized today that I have yet to use the bed of my Lightning for anything aside from cardboard boxes. If I need to carry a load, I prefer the Rivian. The lower bed height is just easier to deal with…

Going to need a replacement for my cheap tarp soon. This may be an option.

Used our truck to help some friends demo an old pathway. I threw down some old plywood prior to loading as not to totally screw up the bed.

Anyone who says they don't notice that much extra mass in a vehicle isn't paying attention. I will say, it handled it like a champ, the air suspension took an extra moment to come back up from kneel mode to standard, but it leveled out and drove far better than I exoected. I also found sport-stiff-low to be a good stable platform. I didn't try tow mode, not sure why honestly.

As much as I really wanted to do a followup 0-60 test, I couldn't bring myself to going full dumbass with that much weight. I will say, it still had plenty of get up and go, while still providing a very predictable deceleration curve via regen.

What was hilarious was most of my coworkers either drive full or mid sized trucks, and each one gave me the "what the eff are you doing to that truck?!?!" comment, but at the end, came away more impressed it wasn't just a pretend truck.

Building new front steps this weekend, so been to Home Depot many times already. Also helped my buddy get some 16ft lumber yesterday, happy to have a truck again!
