This looks like a great option for transporting lumber that is 12' or longer, thanks for the link and pics. I don't think I would want to try anything over 8' in the bed.Tried carrying lumber on the roof for the first time using the "bed extender" (https://amzn.to/3ZaQfkj)
The truck can level out a pretty decent load but I suspect more than double the rated payload is probably too much.I should have taken a video of the forklift lowering a pallet of 3,100lbs of wet mulch into the bed. I can attest our suspensions and lift gate have a decent factor of safety. Immediately backpedaled and set it back down on the ground before hand loading 20 of the 70 attempted bags. Worth a shot, had hoped for 20lb dry bags not 44lb wet bags.
Lessons learned:
1. If nothing breaks it's worth a try
2. Lowes doesn't have scales
3. Always assume mulch will be soaked
I know they tested close to 3,000 lbs load in the Munro video, but I definitely would not want to try that with my own truck. At 3,100 lbs you are well over double the load limit, glad to hear you decided to only try 20 bags at a time.I should have taken a video of the forklift lowering a pallet of 3,100lbs of wet mulch into the bed. I wish there was a way to preload the suspension for a heavy load so you don't see the drop of terror as much. The truck can level out a pretty decent load but I suspect more than double the rated payload is probably too much.
Agreed, I knew I was pushing it even if dry but immediately saw the error of my waysI know they tested close to 3,000 lbs load in the Munro video, but I definitely would not want to try that with my own truck. I haven't tried this, but if you start off in a higher suspension mode there will be more air in the bags so they shouldn't sink as far down. Dropping back to standard after the load should force an adjustment faster.I wish there was a way to preload the suspension for a heavy load so you don't see the drop of terror as much.

(that said its still very tempting to fork the last 50 bags in and be a 500lbs over the limit for a bit. but I won't.)
At first glance I read that as 648lbs of nose candy and I thought "Party on, Wayne!"648 lbs of fertilizer/soil/seed and a hose caddy. (stay tuned for mulch)
Ive been wondering how much mulch/bark/dirt our trucks can hold. With spring here ill be doing a lot of loads back and forth to the topsoil yard.A yard of mulch! He didn't measure and I didn't either, no idea how close to an actual yard it was...
A quick calculation says under the tonneau cover should be almost exactly 1 yard, assuming packed into corners, etc... Weight-wise, be sure to watch your limits, I think for most it's just under 1800lb, so wet dirt will definitely be over that!Ive been wondering how much mulch/bark/dirt our trucks can hold. Perfect. I was worried only a half yard would fit. That’s a lot of trips for how much I need. 1 yard is doable. Should fit easy with tonneau open and a slight mound on top.A quick calculation says under the tonneau cover should be almost exactly 1 yard, assuming packed into corners, etc... Love the wrap and the extra bonus roof mulch. How was the loading experience with our bed size? Oddly the bagged was cheaper than bulk but I didn't love loading them after the first pallet fail.A yard of mulch! He didn't measure and I didn't either, no idea how close to an actual yard it was...
