I hope to tow a Jayco X20D trailer with an R1S for camping in Colorado. It’s about 3500lbs dry and probably 4500 loaded. No idea about trying to charge en route and that makes some trips appear to be shorter than across the state.
I’m very curious how regeneration will really work in Colorado. All drives are up and down, if the down can provide some additional range, it could be really good for me.

You'll get back some (70%?) of the additional energy required on the uphill portions. Overall range will be negatively impacted.

Oh hey Bruce.

It’s a 2021 XLS 17MKE..with a non-optional normal dinette. We had a little trouble finding it; seems most dealers carry / list only the ‘theatre seating’ option. Our listed UVW on the stickers is 4634. But we had a 2-battery, single solar panel (and charging controller) system installed. So I figure we’re at least 4800 lbs UVW - but haven’t actually weighed it.

It has a VERY large frontal area, it’s a full 8’ wide and sticks up higher above the SUV than, say, my friend’s Lance model. Part of the height issue is because it has an above average ground clearance which I’m happy to have.

But towing range with a R1T is likely to be a problem, I’m counting on it. Trying to find some partial offsetting solutions but still in learning, research mode. I have quite a wait..to give myself time.

A 5x8 utility trailer, and a few other things on occasion.

We plan on towing a 4000-6000lb travel trailer.

We have resisted for years RVing because of the poor gas mileage and the stuff pouring out of the tailpipe.

With the R1T we can travel and enjoy nature without a tailpipe. We accept the challenges of charging and will anticipate and plan for it. Over time the EV infra structure for EVs will improve.

The R1T is not only fully capable for towing but is a great vehicle to drive when camping and can tackle pretty much anything that comes along.

Adventure On!

Nice. Always wanted a twin center console to do some offshore diving but alas I live in central pa. Wouldn’t even mind something smaller to do some scallop diving

My wife and I are doing the same thing. We’re headed towards retirement and this is something that would allow us to explore areas we wouldn’t usually go to.

My plan is to tow a trailer with a 4 wheeler if it doesnt fit in the bed of the truck. We shall see. It will get its use though!
