We're getting an Airstream Basecamp 16X. Compact but should do the trick for boondocking.

I've decided to go with the Basecamp, too...won't get mine until June/July, but in the queue, just like the R1T. So many trailer companies are booked up for a year or so (Casita, Scamp, etc.) Pretty amazing.

I have a utility trailer that I tow regularly. Occasionally I'll tow something bigger.

I haven't seen any info on the tow hitch for the R1T. Has anyone confirmed that it will be included on every R1T?

I was surprised when it wasn't an option in the configurator back in November and I swear it was confirmed as a standard feature but I can't remember where that info came from. But as far as I know the website is still completely mum on the topic which is frustrating...

The reciever is standard on both vehicles. You just need to supply your own ball of the correct size and slide it into the reciever. I currently ahve three trailers and use three differnt balls/drops for each one with my current pickup.

So I went back to the website to look for any proof that the tow package would absolutely be standard and this is the best I can come up with. In the attached picture it appears to show the 2" receiver integrated into the steal portion of the bumper which runs between the frame rails. Maybe it is included because adding one aftermarket would be extremely difficult or impossible... But this picture makes me believe that it is going to be there by default. They just aren't advertising it well. If it is integrated into the steal portion of the bumper it is certainly not a dealer installable option like the big 3 sometimes do.....

Seems to be a common theme with Rivian as we continue to inch closer to production.

Per another forum members query to Rivian CS, both the R1T and R1S come standard with a 2" class V receiver hidden behind a rear fascia.

I’m hoping to be pulling a rockwood mini lite. Our plan is to use the trailer to tour New England. My hope is that we will get 175/200 miles with the trailer. Rivian has said at 11000 lbs range is cut in half. we should be able to get to most places with out charging. This is how my wife and I are going to kick off retirement. we are excited!

Currently tow a 19 foot Airstream Flying Cloud. We are a one car household and hope to transition to our pre-ordered R1T.

Our current tow vehicle, Volvo XC40, only gets about 175 miles a tank while towing, we are used to stopping a lot. Hoping to get 200 miles on a charge with the R1T with the trailer, there’s not a ton of charging infrastructure in Idaho and the current RAN plans leave some large gaps to popular camping destinations.

We love to boondock off grid and I’m nervous the Rivian will force us into many more RV parks, but we are pretty motivated to make it work.

- 22 foot Rinker wakeboard boat
- 5x8 enclosed trailer
- 18 foot 7500 lb equipment trailer hauling my 33 hp Case tractor/loader/backhoe (or whatever else I put on it)
- 5x10 refrigerated 4 tap beer wagon
- log splitter
