Tire rack has these tires listed at $476 per (yay inflation). I had a deal on the Tirerack website that was roughly $250 back on 4 tires, and I called my local discount tire to see if they'd price match and the sales guy was more than happy to take that price (oops, went in too hot I guess).

I also noticed that there's 2 Pirelli Scorpion AT Plus tires, one for the Rivian and one that's significantly cheaper. I wanted to make sure as well he wasn't selling me the cheaper version. I think I have that nailed down by checking the load rating and I notice mine say "RIV" on the sidewall... I think he said his retail price on the tire was like $426 but couldn't find that on the Discount Tire site.

Regardless, anyone have any info what they were able to negotiate? No need to suggest other tires, I think I'm one of the few happy with my tire wear, and have K02/K03 on other vehicles, very interested in maximizing range for the driving I do.

Discount and tirerack are the same company, but their websites and prices are still different (it is mentioned somewhere on tirerack site). They will adjust price but you have to know to ask. I've also noticed that installation at discount is quoted lower at tirerack (tho my local was a few bucks lower still).

I liked them, till they started to howl around 13,000 or so miles. So loud I could hear them as soon as I stated to roll at parking lot speed. I put up with them for over 30,000 or so miles before I just couldn’t stand them any more. Still had plenty of tread left. But I was taking a trip and didn’t want to hear that the entire way.

I gave the Nokian Outpost nAT a try. Way quieter, great in snow and sand, about the same efficiency and definitely more of a truck tire. Have to run higher pressures for every day driving but been pretty great.

They are not!

Pirellis suck, especially these OEM Scorpions. Heck, mine barely have 10K miles on them and they are already making a racket. Rotatons don’t seem to help. When I put my Blizzak winter tires on, I’m instantly reminded how peacefully quiet my R1T can be.

We went through two of these in one month running into a trailer tongue then piercing one running over a 8 mm allen wrench .
Bought them from local mobile tire guy $325 ( likely higher now) then been buying on eBay with3/4 tread remaining for $75 to $85 shipped (RIV stamped)

Nice! Thanks for the datapoint. I ended up paying about $375/tire + install with Discount Tire. Service was top notch, did it in my driveway, brought proper lifting pucks, service guy was super professional.

Good to know you can get such a big discount off retail MSRP (no sites online were offering sales, maybe there's weird post price fixing in the tire industry) because the rep didn't bat an eyelash at $375, guessing I could have gotten him a bit lower if I tried. Whole install was about $1800 which I think is a bit lower than folks on the forums seem to report (seen $2000-2500).

Also I haven't used them but I was intrigued by United Tire that sells used tires at various tread depths at reasonable prices with a 1 year warranty. I'd be tempted to try them out if I needed to buy 1 or maybe 2 tires and didn't want/need to replace the whole set. I noticed they also listed on ebay, not sure if that's who you used... they had I think 11 different RIV tires posted on their site a few days ago.

How are you liking the outposts so far? I will be ready for new shoes in about a month or two. Did you get the LT or 115? How is the wear? How is the efficiency? And what do you mean by "more of a truck tire?" Thanks.

The outposts are a pretty great option. I went with the LT’s. I run higher pressure per nokians recommendation for the weight. (60psi cold) I get a good chalk tread pattern at that pressure and it seems about perfect. They are way too squishy at 48 for the street. 30-35psi is great in soft sand and these tires eat up the sand! 48 would probably be good enough in most off-road situations. They are also great in the snow! Range is about the same as the OEM and they are way quieter. They are wearing good and I am on track to getting the rated warranty mileage.
By more of a truck tire I mean the Rivian feels more like a truck with these tires. As in these are not the tires for you if you want to run in sport mode all the time and do a lot of launches. They will break traction and slip a bit at launch and they are not “sporty” tires. The OEM felt more like a street tire than these. That said they handle great for daily driving.
Next time around I may give the new OEM Goodyear tire a try. Once they give us the ability to set our own tire size I may pickup a second set of rims and keep these tires for off-road/winter and put the Goodyears on for the daily commute. But the verdict is still out on those tires. Need to hear from some owners running them first. Hope that helps.

@DayTripping and others have given some excellent feedback on the Goodyear tire here… https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/...y-at-275-60-20-factory-at-tires-saving.37522/
