That seems to be the consensus. I guess if mine doesn’t make it this year, the consolation prize is it should be a 23.


Now that I’ve jinxed myself, mine will be built on the last day of 22 production, but delayed Rivian style until April.

The model year will officially change when Rivian decides to change the model year designator in the VIN. The 10th character in the VIN identifies the model year of the vehicle. For 2022 it is N; for 2023 it will be P.

Traditionally auto makers determine the model year based on the version that's for sale on Jan 1 of any given year. Thus, when Ford (or whoever) launched the new model year in the fall, they are saying that's what'll be on sale on Jan 1.

I'd look for the model year to change to "P" here relatively soon, and also for the individual number to reset as well (as it'll be a new year).

I queried my Guide on the model year changeover.. his official answer "I have no information on that".

No matter what, I believe if your vehicle is manufactured on or after Jan 1 2023 the title will say "2023 Rivian R1x".

I'll call it, they're going to start up-charging for the wood. Adventure will be the new explore, and wood will be an upgrade or standard in a new upgrade trim in... idk two years

Yah I bet they start charging for the wood trim.
