Went from Q4 estimate to shop invite suddenly

@tjp74 I wouldn’t hold off on securing loan, they advised me similar and the truck was at the SC in less than a week. Getting the loan squared away delayed my delivery by almost a week (was using local CU, wasn’t able to use Plaid mechanism, then missed FedEx deadline and had to reschedule delivery). It will happen faster than you think once you have vin and are in 8-steps. Time to get excited!

Well, this means its a crap-shoot. Got my L.E. R1S VIN moments after picking it from the shop on May 12th. Went through the steps quickly including securing a loan approval using Rivian/Chase lender. Signed the loan docs and sitting at step-7 Payment with step-8 schedule delivery in the "upcoming" state. So even if I did the down-payment I couldn't do the delivery scheduling. Rivian emailed me on June 7th that vehicle left the IL plant. Assuming its on a train making its way to the west coast. Guide send email saying it "should be ready" by June 16th. .... this is going to be a looooong week but I will get it s00n!

My experience was that I went from the “upcoming” state for step 8 to a text from a delivery specialist discussing date and time options BEFORE what my guide originally discussed as a delivery window. It definitely felt like the much-debated under-promise and over-deliver. Congratulations and good luck with your delivery!

I got the call from delivery specialist at the SC before the guide notification also, but then an actual call from the guide saying the delivery specialist had "over promised". My assigned VIN was possibly not correct, and she had no ability to trouble shoot the miscommunication or locate the vehicle with the assigned VIN. My delivery in Austin was supposed to be on the 16th also. The Austin SC has ghosted me. So the factory(via the guide) notifies you when the vehicle leaves the plant? They seem to need a UPS/FEDEX/Amazon logistics upgrade. The vehicles are rolling microchips with multiple gps location emitters. Seems difficult to lose one.
I ordered floor mats from Rivian. UPS delivered them yesterday with the cardboard packaging completely separate from the mats. I did get multiple reliable notifications re their location, lol. I presume they were difficult to package for shipping.

So the factory (via the guide?) notifies you when the vehicle leaves the plant?

Notification about leaving the factory was a more generic Rivian email (not from my Guide). She did send me a separate email the next day which tells me she gets the same notification.

Guess it can fall on both sides, I think the in-house finance option definitely makes it easier. I’ve heard nightmares on cash buyers not being able to give Rivian money too (has to be FedEx to Normal day before) -

Once I locked in vehicle in R1Shop, I was contacted by guide same day (I did txt him 3 times I was so excited) and he opened up 8 steps + quoted 4-6wks delivery to Costa Mesa SC. At 3 wks, I reached out to ask if still on track, they asked if I wanted it that same week. So, it took 3.5wks from pick to keys for me. Also paid cash, wire needs to be completed day prior to delivery, no issues.
