This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. Spend $5,000,000,000 and you get access to some of the good stuff ;)

There have been plenty of people saying Scout wouldn’t for some reason
Yeah, I don't get that.. head in the sand I guess?
I mean did they just think VW would invest 5 Billion for $hits and giggles? They want Rivian to do their homework for them ;)

This is what VW was buying for their 5B.
Of course it is, and this is how business gets done. Rivian invests time and $$$$$$ developing/perfecting the tech, VW purchases the rights to use it which saves them years of development time and lets them concentrate on other areas of development.

Both companies win!

They didn't pay attention to the reveal event and press release. Both literally said "zonal architecture".

And not just for Scout. It's for all of VW Group. All brands under that umbrella. Some, like Seat, aren't even sold in the US. Massive savings for Rivian on shared component orders.

Software can mean a lot of things. I doubt the user software experience will be very similar, at least what they showed had a lot of buttons and what not more like a traditional car. I never doubted they would use the zonal architecture.

Let's see what the final version is, if they get the software right it could be a real winner.

I believe software under the JV is just the bones of the development stack. The fundamental structure and how software components control hardware (and vice versa). UI/UX will be completely up to each company's own developers. Some, if not most, of those physical buttons will be more like keys on a keyboard. Less like an electro-mechanical on/off switch.

The Scout's current software UI certainly looks/feels much like Rivian software:

1st look at Infotainment Software UI -- Modes (Pet Mode, Camp Mode, Night Mode), Rear View Camera, 360 Degree Cameras, Range Extender On/Off

And I doubt they're gonna overhaul that for the production Scouts.
