Hey all, I'm a relatively new owner of an R1T Lauch Edition purchased used with ~12k miles. Documenting an issue we experienced and resolved in case anyone else runs into it.
The problem: sometimes while driving, we'd get a warning stating "hood entrapment button stopped working". Simultaneously, the hood latch would release, so we'd also receive a warning "hood open. Pull over and get serviced immediately". Note that the hood was not fully open at this point. It would crack about half an inch but there appears to be a second failsafe latch stops it from flying open on the interstate.
We tried reclosing the hood, removing reattaching the plastic around the latch, switching to manual hood operation, soft and hard resets. Sometimes the problem would go away, but only for a few minutes. The only way to get it to go away for longer was to do a sleep reset (lock the car and leave it alone for half an hour). We did observe that the problem seemed to happen more often when it was dark and cold. Not sure if this was coincidence though.
The solution: we managed to convince a service center on our road trip path to see us as a drop-in. They pulled out the entire tub in the frunk, and immediately noticed the issue--it wasn't plugged in. We realized this is also why our internal frunk lights weren't turning on. No idea if it came like that originally or if the used dealer tried to do something and didn't understand the electronics. But if someone else runs into this issue and is feeling brave, try pulling out the plastic tub and checking the connections, before you drive over an hour with a flashing warning and constant alarm sound like we did...
