Some of us chill in our cars during kids football games or gymnastics classes, or when charging, or if the power goes out and you want heat and entertainment.
Honestly, besides even the obvious uses (keeping your toddler occupied during charge stops on the road), we needed groceries on the way home last night and using this with my Plex server made keeping my toddler occupied while she breezed through the store super easy.

The ease of use compared with using abettertheater in our Model Y was really awesome. I appreciate this feature, and happened to pick up the R1T just after it was implemented. I love it.

The update isn’t out for everyone yet and I was hoping to see some specifics of how it works
I'm not sure if you've gotten the response you're looking for yet, but I thought this was super easy. The cast screen on the car walks you through it. You connect to the vehicle hot spot from your phone wifi settings (it even shows a QR code you can use if your phone lets you), then you hit cast on whatever app you have that supports it and select the Rivian (I used Plex and it was seamless). Personally, I think this was really well implemented.

Now, from what I've read, if you don't have connect+, you CAN connect your car to a phone hotspot and piggy back on that. However, it has to be a different phone from the one you're casting on. I haven't tested this yet but I'll be sure to try at some point as I have a phone for work.

Is it just me or does Google Cast (testing Disney +) not support full screen or surround sound? Am I missing a setting?

It's far from worthless.
Bit late here but it totally is worthless...that is why they have the Google cast behind a paywall when it's using data from your phone to do so. C+ is not worth the price and although I kinda miss my Spotify app, it needs more value to be popular among people.

You're saying that using Google Cast uses your own data? I'll try that later today and see if that's true.

Even so, it's $14.99 a month.

No, casting pulls data from the car's own data plan, hence Connect+. The phone just tells the infotainment screen where on the internet to go to fetch the data, and handles jog controls like pause/rewind.

That’s correct.

right now, the casting is on trial without C+ so I think it uses your data. With C+, you will get Spotify (and future apps potentially) natively with car’s data. Also hotspot for several devices traveling with you. Tesla has similar for $10/m (lot more apps though) but does not allow hotspot

Here's some data to think about:

- In 2023, Electrify America recorded over 10 million charging sessions
- Electrify America has a 10% share of the charging market
- Napkin math puts that at 100 million charging sessions in 2023
- Average fast charging session is 42 minutes.
- More napkin math puts that at 4.2b minutes at chargers
- Rivian has a 5% EV market share
- Even more napkin math makes that 210 million minutes Rivian's spend at public chargers a year.

As someone that does 98% of their charging at home, and 2% of charging while on road trips with 2 kids, I can tell you that this update is a big improvement for our family. Yes, it only affects that small 2% of charging that we do, but it makes the experience 10x better. We're very excited.

If you don't use public chargers, thats okay, this features isn't for you. But the data shows that there ARE people that use public charging infrastructure and this feature is a HUGE quality of life improvement for those people.
I use every time I use a public charger, makes the time go faster..😀

Just confirmed that the data is from the truck's connection. Connect + is a GOOD DEAL.

connect+ should be cheaper and not include wifi hotspot. most people don't need the hotspot function and they can match the $99 a year pricing of tesla

The other notable thing is google cast does not work with a lot of pirate websites. With tesla you can use the browser and play pretty much anything
